Seeing all the different questions on these from other buyers and reviewers, I wanted to put a detailed review on this product. Note I did not buy it from Amazon resellers. A few things to note first:
The shipments comes in 4 boxes
1) Bed (longest box - 7 ft length x 1 ft width x 6 inches height) - heaviest at approx 66 lbs.
2) Book case (medium size - 4 ft length x 1 ft width x 6 inches height) - lightest at approx 19 lbs
3) Dresser (4 ft length x 3 ft width x 6 inches height) - approx 46 lbs
4) Desk (5 ft length x 4 ft width x 6 inches height) - approx 33 lbs
90% parts are solid pine wood. The MDF parts are the dresser back and dresser drawer bases. I saw some reviewers complaining about the wood getting nicks. This will happen as its pine and not teak. a bit softer wood than teak. And also the fact that when you are putting together you will bump and nick it. If you do get a bit deep nicks, use a soft wood filler and then use close to red cherry wood stain. the dark cappucino is a bit a redder in color.
A few tips before and while building:
1) Open all packages and make sure nothing is broken. Luckily I had no such issues. Delivery was via fedex. Nicely packages.
2) Not all parts are numbered especially the mutilple parts of the same style. Good to get a pencil and number the bottom of the parts. I saw that the 4 main posts of the bed were numbered. This helped a lot. Since its etched in wood, you may not see it easily. Use a wet paper towel and clean the bottoms and you should be able to see the numbers on the posts.
3) Don't rush into building. All the 4 different items have parallel posts that need to fit in both sides with the perpendicular posts. Make sure wood dowels are in and atleast for the parallel/perpendicular ones use two people. One to hold the parallel pieces at 90 degrees. Put the screws in 90% of the way on one side for all the pieces for the side and have the person hold them and put the other side in.

Overall very nice product. Pictures attached.

I am surprised and very pleased with how well made this bed is. It definitely is much better quality than a plywood bed like you get at Walmart. The instructions were easy to follow and it really is very sturdy. My daughter loves her new bed!
We bought 2 sets, one for each of our boys. The first one I put together had one board with holes drilled for wrong part, but it was not weight bearing part so was easy fix with a run to hardware store for 2 long screws. That same package had a nick in one of the boards, so only a problem for aesthetics. There were no issues with any of the other boxes that came with it. The 2nd set was flawless. So out of a total of 8 pieces of furniture, no complaints from us. We love it. I was able to put it all together without the use of a power drill. Be careful not to lose any pieces...they have only the exact required amount!! We did not have a single piece left unused. The kids also love the "hidden space" created beneath the bed to play in. Total, we have two loft beds, two attached rolling desks, two sets of drawers, and two end shelves. The desks allow plenty of room for lamp and homework. Really pleased!
So just to start out, the finished product is easily a 4 star product. It's solid, looks nice, and does what it says it will do. There was some damage to the veneer in several places as has been noted by others. What keeps the final product off my 5 star list (in addition to the damage) is because of poor instructions (like everything else) and lack of intelligent engineering. There are several times where a screw or hex bolt must be installed, but there is insufficient clearance to allow standard tools to properly apply torque. Sometimes that situation is unavoidable, but too many times it was just lazy design.

What leads me to knock an additional star off the product involves the assembly of the set. First and foremost, there were several screws missing from the bed kit. Now a quick trip to the shed was able to remedy the situation, but not everyone has a shed full of hardware. Secondly and most importantly, there were times when I had to drill pilot holes in order to keep from splitting the wood when I was installing screws. There were times where had I followed the instructions (poorly written as they were) I would have damaged the furniture. Also because of the poor instructions, pre-drilled pilot holes would have made positioning various pieces much easier. If following a company's directions may lead to damaging the piece you're trying to build, I have to knock off a star. Oh and yes it happened to me the first time a screwed a screw into a piece without a pilot hole. I used a little wood glue to repair the damage and used a small drill bit to make pilot holes for the rest of the build.
First, everything arrived very quickly (less than a week). All the pieces were there, but make sure you keep track of everything because there's no extras. We chose self assembly and it took about 3 hours, but it was not overly complicated at all. We're really impressed with the quality and sturdiness, this bed is a great purchase. Very happy with this purchase!
