Wow, an Adam Sandler movie Disneyfied. Amazing how they did that, but it was perfect! I loved it. Very cute. All the corny goofiness of Adam Sandler's comedy without the sometimes overboard low brow humor in his regular movies. With Adam Sandler movies, I either hate them or love them. Generally, the ones toned down from the low brow are my favorites. (Wedding Singer, 50 first dates, most of his movies with Drew Barrymore, The Cobbler, Mr. Deeds). I wish he would do more like this. I even like the 80's music in this movie. (aging myself now). This had a cute plot that was great for kids and great for adults who like Adam Sandler. I do recommend it if you also like Adam Sandler movies toned down a bit. : )
Cannot say I'm a huge fan of Adam Sandler's funny little voices in general, but they are all appropriately played in this particular film, full of fun & fantasy as well as true-to-life conflicts (& resolutions). Our family has watched this film several times and we laugh just as hard each time at the outrageous antics played out from Skeeter's (Sandler) dreams in his real life.
PG rating is appropriate for some suggestive settings with one particular character, the hotel-owner's spoiled daughter, who dresses skimpily and acts inappropriately . . . also, plenty of "potty humor," though pretty tame compared to typical Sandler releases.
Overall, a super fun show! We quote it often.
If you like Adam Sandler you will like this one with a different twist from his usual roles. I personally am a fan of his movies, I think it's his facial expressions that hook me along with the way he enunciates his lines.
This is a great family movie. Adam Sandler plays an unmarried brother of Courtney Cox. She leaves her two kids with him for a week while she goes out of state to look for a new job. Every night he tells them bedtime stories and the next day the stories really come true- good or bad. Funny and touching. And some light romance with his sister's friend.
I like this movie, its okay for the kids but probably not the best movie. More of an actual adult movie then a kid movie, but I always love Adam Sandler. So if you are a fan of his, I would recommend.
Surprisingly, Adam Sandler stars in a fantastic family movie, and he doesn't even seem out of his comfort zone. Threaded with great themes of honesty, justice, and especially family love in a broken home, this movie is definitely a deviation from Sandler's regular roles, but he is still his same funny self.
Summary: Skeeter Bronson, a maintenance man who, by all rights should be managing the mega-hotel he works at, is cajoled by his sister into babysitting the niece and nephew for a few days. When the bedtime stories he tells them begin coming true, he sees a way for him to realize his dream of managing the hotel. Of course, unforeseen consequences provide strange and hilarious happenings along his path.
I had never heard of this movie and came across it on amazon video. What a cute movie - they should be making more movies like this - light hearted, fun, happy endings. Nice to see something that isn't violent or full of bad language for a change. Something a family can watch. Good cast.
They really reined in his silly voices. I didn't have to hear the same ridiculous Billy Madison vice that made me never want to watch another BM film.
My kid laughed a lot. The concept is super exploratory, so this was actually fun for us parents to watch too. Definitely worth it.
I love Disney films and had never heard of "Bedtime Stories". I'm glad I bought this DVD as the lead actor, Adam Sandler, can sometimes be a little too much for me. The only other film of his that I've enjoyed is Anger Management, but he doesn't disappoint here.
Skeeter (Adam Sandler) is asked to babysit his sister's kids over a couple of evenings. The dayshift is taken by the sister's best friend. Skeeter is a little horrified to find that his sister hasn't got a TV and therefore his first night babysitting actually requires him to interact with his niece and nephew rather than plonk them in front of the screen. He decides to try his hand at telling a bedtimes story, the way his Dad used to tell him stories when he was little. Luckily he's a natural story teller although a little self-absorbed in his story telling the kids change his stories so their they're a lot more fun.
Fun, imaginative film to watch with the whole family or even on your own. Filming covered wonderful sets and locations, a Greek ampitheatre; a medieval palace; the wild west - all lovely scenes and the acting was better than I thoughtt. There's the flitting between modern day, real scenes and ho they could be imagined in the bedtime stories - Motorbikes as horses and a woman as a mermaid.
Added this to our collection of home movies for those dull weekends or chilly long evenings and it does the job. If I'm honest, for me it didn't quite get out of first gear and the story/script seemed a wee bit unsure at times for a Disney family film but that said, I'm 40-something and this was really got for my 13 year old daughter and she loved it, especially the large eyed Guinea Pig!? So, if your looking for something to amuse the kids, this should do the job!
This is one of Sandlers better movies and is a family friendly movie. It has some funny scenes and some fair special effects. Many of Sandler's regulars pop up in the movie and Keri Russell is an asset to the movie. The blu ray has a great picture to it and as you would expect for a family film is very colourful and is worth the step up from DVD.
Great family movie.
Watched over and over again.
Good purchase to watch with little ones.
Bedtime Stories is a relly good funny and entertaining film. I could not stop laughing at it the whole way through.
Bedtime Stories is about a man called 'Skeeter' who relly wants to run his Dad's old hotel, but when the site for the hotel changes and turns out to be his niece and nefues school Skeeter ends up having a whirlwind of adventures. He has to look after his niece and nefue for four nights whilest his sister is away and thats when all the fun starts, well for them anyway! What ever they say in the storie comes true which leaves Skeeter being kicked by an angry drawf, meeting some girls from highschool who do the hocky pocky, having his wallet stolen, geting a girlfriend called Jill and saving a hairy mans life by jumping on him!
A definate must see!
D.V.D: Bedtime Stories [DVD] [2008
Great film must for all family :)
Adam Sandler is right on the money with this story and my little boy loves it and watches it over and over. He quotes bits from the film all the time especially "I see London, I see France, I see my golden underpants" love the characterisations and acting by the stars in the movie and it's really enjoyable family movie.
Very cheap fast delivery
Loved it
Delivered as expected. Great quality. Our little boy lived the film, highly recommended (Bedtime stories)
I've just sat and watched this film with my son and wife and can say we all loved it, Adam Sandler is back to his very best. I think I can say it is the best feel good movie he has done since Big Daddy.
You always know where you are with Sandler movie, there is no swearing (well nothing hard), no guns and no nudity just plain old fashioned fun. If you have kids they will love this film. I know you can read the synopsis if you want to know what the film is about so I won't go into that.
The Blu-ray offers amazing quality and sound so would urge you to spend the few extra pounds to see it on Blu, but if you can't afford Blu then standard won't disappoint.
Very funny film, very well put together story, great quality production. 5 Stars. Please get it.
Don't let the title kid you into thinking this film is just for children it is hilarious for all ages.
The kids and myself loved this DVD. Would definitely recommend.
Happy with dvd!
Love It
After watching this film (3 generations all watching it, at the same time!) I had to buy it, so that I could see Bugsy, again. He's definitely a scene-stealer, which will make anyone with a straight face, smile!
Russell Brand and Guy Pearce add just the right amount of side-kick humour, too.
Kids, young and old, are guaranteed to like this film.
