Dorel Living Airlie Solid Wood Bunk Beds Twin Over Full with Ladder and Guard Rail, White

Pro's
Nice design
Ladder is easier to climb compared to vertical orientation
Wood is warmer than steel frame
Allows for max space saving
Dark color also allows nicks and scratches to be colored/hidden by using a brown or black marker

Cons:
Wood smelled for a long time when we received it
Wood had some scratches and dings
Felt the need to add additional 3/4" plywood support to both bunks for more structural support
Our son cut up his face when he would forget about the top bunk in the middle of the night on the supports (Pro-Tip Idea I had was to buy some 1" pipe insulation from our local Sprawl-Mart and problem solved!

Overall, great addition to our boys bedroom!

Excellent bed, very sturdy and great quality.
The con is it’s a jigsaw puzzle to put together! Piece after piece....totally a 2 person job.
Excellent frame. Very sturdy. It had good directions & pictures for assembly. It definitely needs at least two people (who get along) for assembly and one needs to have strength for turning the screws. We had 2 missing parts: (1) short one vertical end slat for top bunk, but luckily had an extra (longer) end slat for bottom bed that we could shorten. (2) missing one wooden peg that hold top bunk to bottom; after searching house for a substitute my friend got a stick from the yard and sized it to fit. When you're in the middle of everything spread out in two rooms we did not want to contact the manufacturer. I'm very satisfied with the end product.
I bought this furniture after a friend of mine bought the same. She and her husband assembly time was about 3 hours; my friend and I took about 4 hours.
The delivered package is very heavy. The delivered packing was damaged, but luckily none of the parts were damaged.
I was disappointed in this product. I read all of the reviews and thought I would be really pleased. the bed arrived with a million pieces and would really like a few hours to put together. additionally mine arrived with a piece that was cracked and did not include one major piece we needed to put the bed together. We had to contact the company about the parts because there was no way to get all of this back into the box....once you open it and unwrap everything you will understand. We had to remove my sons bed in order to build the new one in his room so missing a piece was not ideal as my son now has no where to sleep. I contacted the company and they said they would sent the replacement parts but would not offer any compensation for the trouble. I thought they acted like sending the replacement parts was SO GREAT! It was very disapppointing for them to tell me that the pieces woul dbe there on Friday (called on Monday) but was made even worse when I was tod the pieces were on back order. Would not purchase this again but honestly had no real option to return.
They say couples activities build strong bonds. This bed will definitely test that bond along with your patience. It’s a great and beautiful bed. Our daughter is completely pleased when we FINALLY completed it. Assembly isn’t for the faint of heart and patience that’s for sure but the end product is worth it.
I will also say that the reason I gave this 4 Star is that the wood is a little prone to cracking. Be careful when you’re tightening the screws. Overtightening will cause the wood to crack!!!! I personally tested the wood we cracked and it didn’t grow or give in with my weight so I was confident that it didn’t affect the sturdiness of the bed and that our daughter would be safe on it but hearing the crack gave me doubts at first.
Great Bed. Very Sturdy.

Sadly it took hours for me and my father to assemble because there's a part where you have to put a knob into the wood then a screw through a whole and align the knob perfectly.

That took hours to do. Very fustrating i dont understand why the knobs werent just installed into the wood period.

After that everything else went well.

I also wish they would give 2-3 extra screws or pieces for each piece. I ended up using a drill and completely messed up one of the screws.

MAKE SURE NOT TO USE A POWER DRILL OR IT WILL MESS UP THE SCREW!
Hand drill is fine
Worst piece of furniture I have ever bought. I have bought over a hundred bunk beds in my career as a property manager when I used to provide furnished apts to college students and never did I see a product this unsafe. The very first time my 70 lb son climbed up to the top bunk he fell right through the bed and was hurt and stuck between slats and headboard. There is no info on the add about weight limits and you get it and find out that no more than 165 ponds on either bed is allowed. I can see this for a top bunk but for a full size bottom with child and mattress it is pushing it. The top bunks the slats go sideways which is not only uncomfortable but as stated present a safety concern. The only reason I did not return this bed is because after 6 hours to assemble the thought of starting over again and having to find and pay to return it was overwhelming. I will simply have to pay someone to get plywood to go over the slats making it hold even less weight. Also the lower bunk can really splinter and hurt someone if they are not careful about the raw wood slats above.
Went together easily and looks exactly as pictured. Feels strong and safe.
