We needed a new bed for my son and originally were looking at a Twin, but he wanted more space, so we went with a Full. We wanted a bed with a non-slatted headboard to keep pillows/stuffed animals from falling through.
Ideally, we wanted wooden supports since kids can be clumsy and we wanted to avoid injuries from tripping over the legs of the bed. This bed has metal legs and frame, but the frame itself is upholstered on all sides, and it's a padded sort of upholstery, also, the frame stretches out farther than the legs (which have a sort of hard plastic covering, so its not bare metal). This bed seems to fit the "avoiding clumsiness injuries" criteria!
The bed took about an hour to put together with 2 people working on it, with the middle metal support beam being the hardest to place and screw in (it comes with those classic IKEA kind of tools for the screws). I've included a picture of the set up process, which hopefully helps.
Very satisfied with this purchase as it met the criteria we wanted for a child's bed, and not at an outrageous price! If it helps, we bought Zinus 8 Inch Hybrid Green Tea Foam and Spring Mattress, Full mattress for it and it fits the bed perfectly.
Long story short: the box is heavy. You'll need a second person to move it or to open the box, unzip the headboard and take everything out piece by piece to make the task more manageable, unless you're able to lift nearly 100 pounds with ease.
Everything included: headboard, 4 legs that screw/twist on (2 for the headboard, 2 for the foot board), 4 side pieces (two for left and 2 for the right side respectively), footboard, two stabilizers/legs for the midde (of the left and right side), cross pieces, two allen wrenches (one big, one small), five screws, velcroed slats, instructions
I'm not a great builder (ask my sister; I offered to build her old daybed and completed the task upside down, only to have to undo the whole thing and call my roommate to do it.) Nor am I good with long detailed instructions, however I was boggled when I saw how simple the instructions that were included were. I thought: this can't be it. (It was, and it was all I needed) All the pieces of the bed come with the screws already attached and all you have to do is loosen it with one of the two included allen wrenches, hook the pieces over the screws (the hooks should be facing down with the velcro lining on top) and tighten them. All together it took me about 2 hours to assemble but after an hour it was clear where everything went (it probably would have been faster with two people but I did it by myself.) The crosshatch pieces are the only ones that didn't come with the screws already in but the five needed screws are included in the plastic bundle with the allen wrenches. After assembling I rolled the slats on and it's really cool how there's velcro on both the slats and the bed frame sides where the slats sit so there's NO CHANCE OF YOUR BED MOVING! And that's just awesome! Especially because I have a memory foam bed that would otherwise slip and slide or fall between any moving slats. A box spring is definitely not necessary and my mattress being 12" already made the bed pretty high profile (any higher and I'd be sitting at or above my window.)
*So in summary: this is the easiest to put together bed I've ever encountered, and if I can do it, I guarantee you can.
The whole thing is of really high quality; the headboard alone made two of my roommates jealous.
I am willing to update this if and when I hear from someone, but I received slats where the wood was peeling and chipped (two of the photos show the damaged slats, and one of them shows the other set which is perfectly fine). I have emailed and called Classic Brands, and have not been able to reach anyone on the phone (and the one person who responded to me via email asked me for forms and pictures that I had already submitted.) The headboard is really nice, but I can't put the bed together...It's far too big for me to send the ENTIRE bed back, and I shouldn't have to, because I only need new slats.
I bought this bed because it closely resembles another one on Amazon that looked great but had some disturbing reviews mentioning bed bugs (no freaking way-not taking that risk). I can now vouch this is a very nice, sturdy, bug-free option. The cheap cloth used to back the headboard (where all the parts are stored upon arrival) rips if you look at it the wrong way, but the headboard fabric you actually see is much tougher and really a nice polished look for the price. The bed does not wobble at all- lots of support from the many 9 legs (4 on frame, and then 5 metal ones that come down from the slats) and the slats velcro-ing into place is a nice touch. Very good bed for my guest room.
Bought this for a 12-inch King sized memory foam mattress. It’s a great bed with some room underneath for thin under-bed storage totes. No squeaking and the color looks great!
This is a great bed. It arrived on time. All the pieces were stores in the back of the bed in a zipped compartment. I put the bed together by myself and it only took an hour! It had very easy instructions. Most of the screws were already in place and just needed tightened once pieces were put together. I like the height, you can fit 4 under the bed storage totes perfectly inderneath. The support bars were connected together and just laid down to rhe velcro on the bed! I would highly reccomend!it looks great and was a good price!
Works great. Would purchase again. Wish more colors were available.
I absolutely love this bed. It is great quality and looks amazing!
