Delta faucets are typically pretty rock-solid. They aren't necessarily super high-end but a good, dependable faucet that rarely gives any problems in use. This faucet is fairly typical of that standard, but there are a few idiosyncrasies with this particular model that I don't particularly care for. Keep in mind that in the grand scheme of things these are "nit-picky" items, but I would probably pick a different model were I to do this over:
* The radius of the faucet is smaller than other versions of the faucet. This means the distance from the base to the water outlet is a bit smaller than the version I was replacing. That shortened distance decreases the reach of the faucet, and things I could easily wash before now require more manipulation under the facet to rinse (and I get more water around the sink than in it!).
* The valves do not have a lot of adjustment between "on" and "off"...meaning that you open the facet valve almost half way before water starts to run, and there isn't much difference between when water starts to run and when it's running full-open. All in all, it feels like about 1/3 of the travel is actually useful, making it difficult to adjust temperature.
* Flow rate seems overly-restricted compared to the previous model of Delta faucet. I'm sure it's an environmental requirement (either current or future) that they are satisfying, but it's noticeable and degrades the performance of the faucet a bit as a result.
I give this unit 3 starts because it's not *bad*, but it's not fantastic, either. It works, and does the job as advertised. There are other units out there that perform better at similar-to-slightly-higher price. I don't dislike it enough to replace it, but knowing what I know now, I would go a different route.
I wanted to stick to a name brand like Delta because eventually I would need to buy washers for it and it's much easier to have a famous brand. This seemed to be the cheapest name brand faucet that still looks simple and classic. I went with the Stainless Steel model. I noticed that Home Depot has a similar faucet with slightly different handles for about the same price but I think they do this on purpose so you can't price compare.
Pro tip: when you buy the hoses for it, make sure that you know whether your shutoff valve is a compression or flare type. Most things seem to be compression now days but in our house, everything is flare and it seems to be the more rare type of connection. All worked well here but there are two annoying things I found:
1. You HAVE to do all the connections in the bottom of the sink and can't make any of them before you put it in. Why? because the locknuts that hold this in place are too small to fit over the water connection. I wrapped teflon tape, and made very good connections but then when I went to put the locknuts, it didn't work so I had to undo everything, remove the teflon tape, put it back on the sink, put the locknuts on, and THEN do the water connections in a tight spot.
2. The sprayer feels very cheap.
I am a computer technician, not a plumber, but our old sink was dripping. I had replaced the drain pipes a week earlier and familiar with the underside of the sink, making this easier. The hardest part was was taking the old faucet out, this installation was very easy. I am pleased at how nice the sink is for the money, how there are no leaks, and the full rotation of the faucet. The entire thing is easy to clean with just a microfiber cloth. The sprayer is very good and you only need a little water running for it to work effectively. I feel like I received a very good value from this purchase, my wife has been bragging on me for a while now after the installation. I have disabilities that limit how much I can do and this was very easy with proper tools. I also installed a PUR Advanced Faucet Water Filter Chrome FM-3700B in place of our old culligan.
It is a good faucet. It may not be as good as the Price Pfister that I replaced it with. Perhaps I should've repaired the dripping Price Pfister (15 years old). The Delta is highly recommended online but it doesn't seem as heavy duty as the Pfister. They seem to be on the same quality level though. I'll know more in 15 years....
The reason that I didn't give this product five stars is because of the sprayer. It is cheap plastic and drips right out of the box. I'll probably try to find a good quality one and replace it if possible (or return it maybe).
For the price, it is a good purchase though (the Price Pfister had a cheap plastic sprayer too). It looks good too.
My mostly non-handy husband installed without issue (not a given) and it's been working perfectly. The high arch neck helps enormously to get pots and pans washed / rinsed since our kitchen sink is average depth. The handles are very easy to use bec they're a bit higher than most -- important when turning the water on w/your elbow because you have "chicken / raw meat hands", plus the sprayer works great -- and (and) the whole she-bang looks wonderful. I'd buy it again - which says a LOT as I'm pretty (okay, very) fussy.
I installed this on my kitchen sink and the high gooseneck is convenient for hand washing dishes. Looks good too. Sprayer works well and is a snap to put on, literally. Overall, this is pretty easy to install. There are no leaks or permanent drips, but since the gooseneck is longer than most, it will drip for a few seconds after the water is shut off. Once the water drains out, there are no more drips until the water is turned back on and the process is repeated.
I have to say, this is BANG for the BUCK! After shopping Lowe's, Walmart and other big box stores, I found this Delta for way less than an off brand faucet at the other stores. It looks great and works well. We have low water pressure and this faucet really improves this!
I bought the stainless steel, and it is gorgeous! Matches my sink so beautifully. The workmanship is great quality. The best feature is the water pressure flow. I wish I had this faucet 15 years ago!
Look nice in the kitchen wife like it
Product arrived in good shape, Faucet could stick out into the sink further. Other than that it works great.
This faucet was bought to replace an older Delta set which had reached the end of its life (23 years), It was easy to install and works like a charm. We recommend it.
Parfait!
Great product.
