I have recently been in a handful of facilities where bed alarms were used. They all used the alarm type that loudly sounded off and terrified the patient right there at the bed or chair where the alarm was installed. This unit's "Chimes" volume is adjustable and, as described, notifies whoever really does need to be notified that the patient has lifted themselves off the pad. I haven't tested the "Up to 300 feet" limit, but it has worked well in my house with about 30 feet of separation between the pad and alarm. The only improvement I would like to see, and maybe it was available on a different model, is an automatic reset. As it is, the caretaker must remember to turn the alarm unit back on after the patient has returned to bed or chair, if the unit was turned off when it sounded. A recent home visiting nurse commented that she had not seen these type of units before.

I own a small assisted living facility with Alzheimer's patient's. I just got 2 of these alarms and I have to say they are LIFE SAVERS!!! I don't normally write a review for anything but I'm so impressed. I read reviews like this and think the people were payed to write them lol. The chime is nm loud enough to wake up! And I've tested the 300 feet, it reached way beyond that. I have 2 townhouses and I live in one side, my facility is in the other side. It reaches far and is loud. I'm finally getting some sleep. Very satisfied with this product. Comfort in knowing it is a reliable source of fall protection. Had some difficulty initially setting up pad in right position to detect movement. Found use directly under person vs. under sheet or incontinent pad more effective.

Purchased the Smart Caregiver wireless remote and bed pad and purchased an additional bed pad. My elderly parents have a caregiver overnight and with the sound of the oxygen machine and the sound of the radio while they sleep, it is hard for the caregiver to hear when they get up to go to the bathroom which is when my parents need assistance. These work perfectly. I have the caregiver pads underneath their mattress pads so they can't feel them at all. The wireless remote works on 3C batteries (included) and has three volume settings. The remote chimes and the red lights flash when either of my parents leave their beds. Buyer Beware: the directions that came with the remote/pad set and the additional pad were different from one another and both directions were vague at best. Had to wait for a weekday to call the customer service number. She led me through the process of activating both pads in just a few minutes.

It works great but it needs to be a little longer to fit a double or queen size bed most people don't sleep in a twin.

This product has put my mind at ease. No matter where I am in the house, I can hear the chime clearly when my mother exits her bed, therefore I am able to quickly assist her. Finally, I can relax.

I got this bed alarm for my husband's hospital-style bed. This alarm has helped me get more rest because I don't have to sleep with one ear open for his movement. As soon as he sits upright - basically lifting away from the flat mat that slides under the bottom sheet - the annoying alarm goes off and I am on my feet.
It would be nice to have a choice of sounds like my cellphone has but Oh Well.
