Great buy for price but instructions could use a tweaking.
1- don't put the slats on until the end. You will be removing some to complete the ladder
2- PAY UTMOST ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES ON THE SIDE RAILS. The ladder placement depends on it.
3- if you are using a foam mattress and not innerspring you will need a bunkie board for both levels.
4- yes it can accommodate a mattress that is 8 inches however you lose A LOT of safety rail. Buy a 1-2 inch bunkie board and then 4 inch mattress.
Another note- holy cow stickers! Plan on spending hours removing labels.
Ordered this set a less than a week ago. Shipping was fast, all pieces arrived I the same box. Instructions a little confusing at times if you don't really pay attention to details, not that big of a deal. But other than that very steardy, great quality and my girls love it. I would recommend this to anyone looking for bunkbeds.
Where to begin! I rarely leave reviews but this was one I could not pass up. Looking back, I should have listened to the other reviewers. I figured it was worth a shot for a measly $200. Boy oh boy was I wrong. We received this (single- that should’ve set alarms off there) package excited to put it together and “gift” it to our children in their new bedroom. Luckily it was a surprise and we were able to send it back without them knowing it existed in the first place.
The fact this bunk bed isn’t offered by IKEA is shocking. Every piece of wood you see in the photo is separated, they must save a fortune in labor costs! In the midst of us fingering through the 200 wooden pieces this package of sadness contained, you could’ve cut the tension in the room, and this bed- with a butter knife. This wood is SOFT. Think Trump hair breezing in the teeniest gust of wind soft. There were splits, nicks, dents, cracks and slivers of wood galore. One of the bottom bunk supports came with a severe crack/split rendering it completely useless. Even if it had not come that way we still wouldn’t have trusted this bed due to the poor fixtures and the cosmetic damage. Our bottom bunk child would have been flattened into a pancake. We packed it up and had UPS come for pickup the very next day.
Do yourself and your children a favor and stay away from this brand. Their support website asks for each part name/number for a replacement which means you’ll be doing a whole lot of looking and typing. Sending a message and a photo isn’t optional which probably means they get a whole lot of complaints in their inbox to begin with. Also, for those of you who need it now, waiting might not even be an option. If you do purchase, good luck- and have a bottle of wine handy!
Went together easy. The instructions strangely enough were actually very easy to follow as opposed to many mass produced made in China furniture. The only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is because during the packing some of the parts were scratched albeit mildly. The beds look great and the girls love them. They are solid and sturdy and my one wish for the design is that it included a better slat system for the mattress to sit on. Also I would have liked for the top bed rail to have been higher so we could use a deeper mattress on it. Overall we are happy with this product and for the price it was a steal.
This is a nice looking bunk bed, especially for the price. It arrived with all of the pieces undamaged. It took about 3 hours to assemble, so plan for that. The one thing I did not like were the "price tag" like stickers marking each piece with a letter to help you assemble. You have to peel about 100 stickers off of the wood and they leave a sticky residue. Some of them even took the finish off of the wood. Other than that detail, I am happy with the bed.
Solid construction. Took about 4 hours to put together. Very large labels (3 that take up the entire span of the headboard) on the outside of the top bunk stating the dangers of bunkbeds. Like a mattress tag, it said not to remove. We wanted a piece of furniture in the room, not something that had a huge label on the outside of the bed headboard. Taking the labels off to not damage the wood took over an hour and WD40 to help with the process. If I was aware of this before purchasing, it might have had an influence in the choice I made. Each bed has a weight limit of 165 pounds. Not an issue for us, but it might be helpful to know this first. Didn't notice this in the description, but saw it after the face in the reviews. Open rungs for mattress placement as well.
Assembly was a nightmare. 2 hours for the first step, then it fell apart on the floor. Gave up, then came back with GLUE. Let 4 headboards/footboards dry for a day, then started on the 8 legs. All had dowel holes in each piece (legs and head/footboards), and they did not all match up in a single leg. Lots of redrilling holes to fit. Got a blood blister from the allen wrench from excessive use. There were holes drilled in the guard rails for the ladder, but none in either top or bottom side rails. Had to drill them, and redrill the ladder holes, to attach the ladder.
In retrospect, it looks good, but I would make sure I picked one adults can sleep on (this isn't), and I would pay whatever they charge to assemble it.
Took a while to put together but other than that, I'm happy with the bed!. Beware of label stickers that'll leave small residue.
