Got this to use as a box spring base for my new Ghostbed mattress. Since most internet-ordered foam mattresses are essentially the same, I assume my advice here may be suitable for others also thinking of using this for Casper, Leesa, Purple, Tuft, Tempurpedic, Helix, etc.
The box spring itself is incredible easy and quick to put together. The price is also great. I highly recommend this as a generic box spring. A word of caution for the foam people though - the slats on this item are 3 inches apart. Someone else guesstimated they were 2.5" and I purchased the item based on their guess. Well, I actually measured it with a ruler once I got it and the slats themselves are 3" wide and the space between them is also 3". This might be a hiccup because I emailed Ghostbed the company and they prefer a 2-inch or closer slat foundation, well tighter than the 3 inches this provides. Since all of the foam mattresses are essentially the same, the other companies likely have the same requirements. I am keeping this item regardless since I only have a full mattress (which is still quite heavy) but it's only being used by my very small daughter for the next few years. I'm hoping it'll be OK, but if you're in the market for a foundation for your new internet foam bed, I would recommend looking around to see if you can find any other box springs with closer-together slats.
This is detailed and long review of my experience: I love the design of this box "spring ". Please note as others have mentioned this not truly a boxspring more like a box support. I bought mine for use with my new Purple bed, coming in a few days. Assembly of the metal frame was literally a cinch for my husband and I. It came clearly labeled and a tools need to assemble were included. The wooden planks seemed a bit intimidating, I was unsure how I would do the spacing. To my delight the planks came pre-attached to the velcro, which we aligned with the upper and lower ends of the preexisting strips of velcro on the metal frame, before pulling tauntly between each plank, adjoining in the center. Now the tough part which caused most people to give it 3 or less stars was The Cover.(dun dun dun) We opened the cover, unzipped it and put the frame in but it took us about an hour to put the cover on. We got the cover on but it didn't seem to want to zip, close it left about a 4in gap. I thought 'this is why everyone had mixed reviews. My husband had a thought after 30-40mins of streching, pulling and fighting this cover; why don't we turn the frame? Ridiculous I thought, you can clearly see which is the long/short side. I was so opposed to idea, I called the customer service line first. (note i just called the number amazon listed no trouble reaching them. They advised to call Amazon as they are responsible) Husband convinced me to just turn the frame. After scoffing and being disagreeable I agreed and...viola it took 10 seconds to zip close. So beware if doesn't work, it's likely nothing wrong with the cover, just turn the frame. Will update once I've used the frame for about a month.
Updated : So this has been way longer than a month. This box spring is a dream! Supports my bed perfectly. I will be ordering another for the guest bedroom next year. Very satisfied with my purchase
The slats are strung together so you don't have to worry about spacing them incorrectly and having to redo it. I didn't have a problem putting the casing on like others have mentioned. It fit perfectly. The screws and allen wrench is sealed in a package so it is nearly impossible to not receive what you need. Even a child could put this together. Highly recommended.

This product is amazing. I was initially very hesitant to purchase something like a box spring / mattress foundation online. The local furniture stores were offering 2 twin size box springs for my King size bed. (I previously owned a Queen size bed and had newly purchased a King size). The prices for the box springs / foundations were easily $250+. This one instead was half the price. I must say it is TOTALLY WORTH IT.
PACKAGING
Perfect condition. Safely put together, so as to not damage the product. Comes with the nuts & bolts, an Allen key to help assemble the piece a good quality cover and an extremely easy image guide.
ASSEMBLY
Assembling the product was so much fun. I literally finished it in less than 15 mins without the help of my husband. YES! This can be done by 1 person.
SIZE
Some review do state that the king size foundation was smaller than the bed. But do not worry, once you put your mattress over it, it is not at all an issue. Personally I fee it's a good thing that there is some space on the four sides.
FINAL VERDICT
It has been roughly 2 months size we bought this product and I do not regret it one bit. It does not creak considering that it is made of metal. It is surely wayyyyyyy better than the wooden box springs out there. AGAIN - totally worth every penny. Would definitely recommend this product and would buy it again if need be.
This thing is solid, no noises, creaks or squeeks. Our Sleep Country Bloom Cloud mattress stays put without issue. We got rid of our wooden box springs that were squeeky after a few weeks and replaced them with this product and I wish I did it sooner. The slats are close together which is a MUST for a foam mattress - don't be fooled by box springs that have 3-4" gaps, you WILL feel it because you won't get the support you need. Awesome instructions, awesome tools included, very well thought out. Bravo Zinus!
Took about 30 minutes to assemble completely including the cover. A few of the screw holes were misaligned, but not so much that I couldn't get them to work. The wood slats are mounted on a velcro strip so you don't have to measure the spacing or screw them down. I was concerned that they wouldn't stay put, but they didn't move when we lifted the frame to put the cover on, or when we placed the box spring on the bed. Feels very solid under the mattress, doesn't squeak or creak. Cover looks nice. My only complaint is that the cover is a bit loose. Makes it easy to get on, but it doesn't look as clean as I might like. Would definitely recommend this.
This was one of the best-engineered pieces of home furnishing I have ever assembled. The instructions were detailed, with pictures. Each end of each piece in the package was labeled with a letter and all you had to do was follow the diagram. The required tools were included in the package, including a nifty little Allen key ratchet, a standard allen key and spare bolts, that made assembly a breeze.
The finished product was extremely sturdy, all of the materials were of very high quality and importantly, it was incredibly easy to assemble. Seriously Zinus, your product engineers and packaging directors could teach Ikea a thing or two. Highly, highly recommended.
So far I am really impressed. Everything showed up in excellent condition. It was so easy to put together but it still felt very sturdy for the metal frame. The wood slates were great and they attached really easy with the velcro. Everything fit together perfectly. My husband and I were able to get the frame together in about 20 mins. The cover is a really nice cover. My only issue was it was very hard to tell which way it went on. We kept laying it on top thinking it went one way and we would try to put it on and it didn't work at all (it was the wrong side). We kept trying thinking it had to be the right side. After two failed attempts we tried the other way and it went on like butter. No problems zipping it up the zipper piece did fall off once we finally got it on but we pulled pretty hard when we tried to put it on the wrong way. Wish there was a better way to identify which way it went on. Other than that it is sturdy and holds the mattress!
Full disclosure - this isn’t on a bed frame. I’m using this on the floor directly as a bed base right now for my infant, rather than putting the bed directly on the floor Montessori style. It’s low enough for now and we have the option of adding it to his convertible crib later to make a proper bed when he’s older.
It’s easy to assemble and looks good to me, but I notice if I’m right in the middle and rocking side to side that it creaks. We did put floor pads on the bottom to protect the hardwood so that may be it, but putting this as a warning for anyone else using it to replace a Montessori style floor bed. It would probably work better on carpet of with a non slip bottom instead of the floor protector pads that are thick.
