I didn't buy this off of Amazon because I was able to get a better deal from the manufacturer's site, but wanted to share my review since when I bought this, there were no reviews (looks like that has changed since). We've had the bedframe for about two months now, and I have to say I'm impressed by how sturdy it is for the price. It doesn't move at all when I get in and out of bed, which I was worried about. I was worried we'd have to send it back because of poor quality (remember, there were no reviews at the time to go by). But we haven't had any problems.
Because we don't have a box spring, the bed is pretty low to the ground, as is expected with this type of bed. There is about 6 inches between the frame and floor, which gives you just enough room to stick an under-bed storage plastic tub under it, if you feel so inclined. The bed was extremely easy to put together, and I think it looks great (see my photos, I apologize for their quality. I took them quickly with my phone as we set the bed up).
My only con that I didn't know when I ordered is that there is a strip on the planks (again, see photos) that you pull off before you put the mattress on. This is meant to hold the mattress in place. I don't know if that will damage the mattress in the long run or have any negative effects, but I do wish the frame itself had a lip that held the mattress in place rather than these tacky strips underneath.
EDIT: November 2017
Just to update, we ended up switching mattresses and although the first mattress stuck a little due to the sticky strips, it came off pretty easy. The new mattress has been on the frame for about a month or so and it hasn't had any problem moving.
I loved the look of this bed frame, and most of it is designed and built well. HOWEVER the center bar support is the weak point. Within a month the center support leg was bent (I am not a large person, 5' 4" at 170 lbs) and proceeded to scratch the crap out of my hardwood floors. It also bent the longer span wise middle support bar a little too. Fortunately I am handy and was able to install 2 by 2 in place of the three shorter support legs with some steel brackets. Hopefully it will hold up. It's very frustrating purchasing something that not only does not hold up, but also damages your floors!
I’m not sure if I should even continue opening this package. This is how it arrived.
If you like a bed that creaks and squeaks and is made of, who knows what kind of wood, and requires numerous trips to the store to get parts that either weren't included or are of such poor quality had to be replaced..... then this is what you should order.
Hind sight tells me I should have returned it immediately ... but have you ever tried to pack up parts and pieces of a queen size bed?
Just wrote it off as a bad experience AND expensive lesson learned. I wish I could give is 1/2 a star instead of 1 ... and that would be a gift just because it arrived on time.
I'm not including the shipping issue in the rating as I'm not sure of it was Amazon's issue or the shipping company. I ordered the bed on 5/22 and it was free shipping, 1 to 2 days to process. The ETA was 5/26, however when I viewed the tracking information there was nothing available. I contacted Amazon through chat and they agreed there was no information available. Needless to say, it arrived on 5/30 and in good condition.
The packaging was nicely packed, with styrofoam in plastic so you don't get the little pieces everywhere. The directions were very clear and easy to read. I, not a handy person, put it together myself in under an hour.
My favorite thing was the slats, they were held together and used velcro along the sides. No need to put them on one by one.
The wood was very nice and a great finish. Overall, very happy with the purchase and the price.
I've attached a photo of one of the frame boards of the bed. They have drilled holes into the wood. However, these holes are meant to have metal threads in them, and without those it is impossible to bolt the bed together and assemble it. On this particular board the holes on one end are close together, the ones on the other end far apart. If you look closely at the photo you can see circles further out than the wooden holes. These circles are where the board was placed in the machine to place the metal threads. However, as they placed the board in the wrong way round rather than putting the threads in and making it functional, it just damaged the wood and placed nothing.
They then shipped me a bed that cannot be assembled.
What is really annoying about this is that they clearly saw the rings that had been made, and therefore knew something had gone wrong, rather than putting the metal threads in they just painted stain over the rings to try and hide the damage.
I contacted amazon and they said to contact Zinus for a replacement part. I called the Zinus customer support line and was put on hold for about 10 minutes at which time a voice came on and told me that their offices were closed and I should call back during working times. Which would be fine, except I was calling during their stated working hours. So I called again, but the exact same thing happened.
I then went online to the Zinus help page to do a live "chat". The page initially told me I was 2nd in line. Then it said to leave my email and someone would contact me. I tried another live chat and did get someone but every time I tried to type their interface would disconnect so they said "go to amazon" and hung up. I did finally get someone on the third chat try who could see my typing, but they did not even wish to listen to the problem, they just said to go to Amazon (which was ironic as Amazon told me my best and fastest remediation was to go to Zinus). After a very long circular discussion where I asked for a replacement part the chat representative said it would be 2 weeks before they could ship it, but every time I asked them to do so, she would then switch back to - go to Amazon and ask them. I finally asked for a manager. The chat representative then became quite snippy, took my cell number for a call but not till the next day then typed "ENJOY your evening". Apparently sarcasm is the new customer service style. Someone did call me the next day and the answer was that they would do absolutely nothing for me, they wanted me to call Amazon (even though I explained several times I already had).
I ordered a replacement through amazon, but it wont come for a week (no expediting), so I guess we're sleeping on the floor and our guests will get our bed. I would have cancelled and got a refund but unfortunately my 9 year old had already demolished the box we would have had to ship it back in.
I have never encountered a company less aligned or interested in providing the customer any support whatsoever. Especially as this was a defect that it clearly left the factory with, and so was clearly their quality control problem.
The order arrived quickly. The Frame was well packaged, even the styrofoam was bagged. All the pieces were there and for the first time ZERO FLAWS or DAMAGE. It was very easy to assemble and I followed the instructions provided to avoid divorce court. We used an Endy Mattress to top it. The frame is stealthy quiet and has passed vigorous stress testing with flying colours. It is a simple, beautiful platform bed. Well made. I would buy it again.
I am so happy with this bed frame. I dread the assembly of 'furniture in a box', but this brand does an excellent job at labeling the parts and explaining how to put it together. I also ordered two night tables from this company and it was the same experience. So easy to put together. I actually put the night tables and the Queen size bed frame together myself. It didn't take long at all and it was totally possible for one person to do it. It also looks modern and really solid. So much better value for money than IKEA.
Took several months to receive the bed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so that's totally understandable. Amazing how they put all the pieces to be assembled in such a small package which was extremely well packed for shipping, Even with quite a large gouge through the box, there were no marks on the bed itself. Comes with all the tools for assembly plus a few extra washers bolts etc. The most difficult part of the assembly process was getting the nuts, bolts and washers out of their sealed package. The actual assembly of the bed itself is a breeze, just don't tighten all the bolts until the end when all pieces are in place. Would have been nice to have rubber pads on the bottom of the frame legs, similar to the center slat support bar.
Good value for money. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a well finished bed.
