So, these DO work as advertised but they are prone to failure as seen in other reviews. The plastic is fairly poor when it comes to load distribution so with a few minor mods, problem solved. First, I filled mine with expanding foam that is firm when cured and helps distribute the compression loading and doesn't rely on the plastic structure to do all the heavy lifting. Once that's done, I fitted vinyl blocks (wood works fine as well) in the top pockets to again prevent any stress risers and point loading of the top face that has caused so many to crack. It distributes the load around the entire perimeter of the pocket. These now sit under a steel platform bead that when loaded with two adults, probably exceeds 600lbs. They are rock solid after my improvements. I would not trust them as they come from the factory as they are essentially fairly flimsy empty plastic molds. Hope this helps you all when considering purchasing a set.
Bed risers either work or they don't so in my opinion they either get 1 or 5 stars. There are two things that are a must for them to work.
1) They must be strong enough to hold the weight of the bed, plus you!
2) The recess of the riser must accommodate the size of the foot of your frame.
Many reviews suggest that these risers are cheaply made and break easily. I can't say for sure but they are heavier duty than the risers I was replacing and have used for many years. Perhaps the design has changed, but I was pleased by their heft and thickness of the plastic. Also, they have reinforced ribs directly under the platform. If you have wheels as feet, I would consider, replacing them with flat feet which will disperse the weight of the bed across the riser better and help reduce the chance that the riser platform supporting the weight will break. The other thing to be sure of is that you buy a riser for each foot. Some king size beds have 6 feet. Four on the corners and two mid-frame to support the larger span of a king size bed. If you only buy one box of four, you take a chance on either bending your bed frame, or cracking the riser, as you will be distributing the weight across only 4 feet instead of all 6 feet.
I ranked this a one star because of the other "criteria". These did not accommodate the size of the feet on my bed frame. Granted, these would be plenty big for many beds. However, the product description clearly states that the opening for these risers is 3"x3". I ensured that this was the case, because my frame feet are exactly 3" and most risers are not big enough to accommodate that size. After cleaning out under the bed and lifting the king size bed while my wife and daughter placed the risers, I set the bed down, only for them to NOT FIT!! After measuring, my suspicion was confirmed. The advertised 3"x3" opening is 2 7/8"x2 7/8". The 1/8" matters, because if the foot doesn't sit flat, the foot of the frame will bend and break. I have no problem with the fact that the opening is smaller than 3x3 except that this product is not as advertised!!
Very nice. Adjustable. U can not put a steel frame with a point on it it will crack or break thru. I simply added a pease of wood to prevent this from happening
At first, we were very happy with the firm placement, structure and apparent strength until one leg gave way today. The problem is in the material weakness. The flat platform on one leg at the foot of one corner of the bed cracked and collapsed.
Our bed frame leg corners are rounded caster wheels which seat comfortably on these risers very well. However they are not strong enough to support 2 people and a cat without collapsing.
I weigh 205 lbs my wife won't tell me what she weighs but I would guess 135-140, (god bless she never reads this) and the cat was on the bed weighing maybe 7lbs. We put our bed up on these things so that we could store stuff underneath. Luckily nothing valuable got nailed but seriously...and we had some pretty unreplaceble art stored under the bed. Basically, do not bother, they are not up to snuff. It's a time bomb.. See photos on how to fix em once they bust.
Best, Peter.
I was very excited to get this item but once I put them on the bed with in one week one of the risers broke and only my 6 yr old daughter and myself sleep on the queen size bed I am very disappointed I really was looking forward of putting things under my bed I would like my money back or replacements.
Over a year these have all broken. This bed is used for sleeping. The platforms all shattered through the center while I was in the bed. Queen size bed, I'm normal sized and these things are dangerous
Risers broke in the middle of the night throwing me from my bed. The risers crack dead center throwing me from my bed where I slam my head into my dresser, these risers are unsafe unreliable and dangerous.
Yeah FYI, everyone keeps saying the recess on these is 3x3...BS, because my not-even-3in-wide bed posts wont fit in these, and I measured them. Photo for proof. Real annoyed with reviewers who said these were 3 inches wide. But, other than that these seem decent quality. So real happy that I cant use them. Not.
I put these under the recliner my 90 year old mom is using. She has been having problems getting out of her chair. Now, she has no problems getting up and loves her chair again. I was worried they wouldn't be sturdy or unstable, but they've been very good. Good buy.
I ordered these back in November but didn't around to putting them under the bed until about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately for us, this was after the return window closed, especially considering we had to order 3 boxes of them due to having a bed with 9 feet.
We bought these because we have under bed storage totes that would not quite fit. We went ahead and put the 5inch risers underneath. About a week ago, the front left foot (where your feet would be when laying in bed) punched through the top of the riser. The feet of the bed are relatively narrow, about an inch and a half square... and it punched out a hole the exact size of the foot. I figured it had to be since it was in the corner of the riser and replaced it with one of my extras.
This morning, the same spot on the bed punched through that riser, and with it, took the middle riser at the foot end with it. This time the Foot was dead center of the riser and punched the entire "floor" of the riser out perfectly.
I'm considering swapping out the remaining 5inch risers for the 3inch ones and trying to figure out something I can put inside them to add some actual durability/structural integrity.... Maybe Spray-foam or something. I don't know if I just got a bad batch or what... But I expected far more durability out of these. And I'm honestly surprised that the bottom 5inch Risers don't have their structural support trusses extend all the way to the floor. The increase in strength would be substantial.
This worked perfect for a university residence bed. With the 8 inch rise, I was able to get rubbermaid totes under the bed! The bed is pretty heavy as well but that was not a problem for these risers. I'm very happy. The bed is stable. I created a ton of storage! I didn't spend a lot of money!
I'm not sure whose Bed posts are this narrow, but I have a regular sized bed in a regular size bed post but it does not fit into these at all. We have five other beds in our house and none of them fit in this either. This is an abnormally sized bed extender for small posts on a bed
We use these risers to raise the foot of our platform bed 3", to slant our bed from foot to head. We found 5" too extreme an angle. We improvised a couple of blocks to give us about 2" support for the middle legs of the platform. If this company made a set of 3", 2", 1", we'd buy them also.
Just got these in the mail and so far they worked great. Our couches are low and I have a torn ACL in my knee so now it's much easier to get up from the couches. Already ordered another set for the couch downstairs.
As a resolution for 2019 was organizing my kids' bedrooms and all of the available plastic underbed storage boxes being too tall, this product was the answer! I was able to raise one bed 3" and the other 5" and now the bed boxes are easily stored under the beds with easy access and the bedrooms are neat and organized. Not only am I happy, but my kids are happy as well!
Work great needed for King bed ordered 2 sets my frame needed 9 I wanted the 3 “ so I measured the 5” one and cut to size with hack saw used it in middle of bed worked great now my frame is 10” high
So I used these to raise my tv stand, as I went from a low couch to a recliner. These are crazy sturdy, and add more height than anything else I saw available. Looks a little silly with the plastic raising it 8” but I had planned for that. I artfully placed books around the base of the tv stand and now it looks fantastic. Cheaper than other options, worked for me :)
Bought in November for a low bed.
Regular metal bed frame legs.
Orihinally gave 5 stars but they didn't hold up to normal use.
By end of July the bed leg punched right through one and broke another.
Not impressed
I think this product is great love the fact that you have a choice of levels. Strongly recommend this product. Ordered it on a Sat and at my door Mon. Am....super fast service.
Solid risers just as advertised. Raised the bed a full 8" allowing for storage underneath. I reinforced the durable plastic with a steel plate to ensure the added weight from the castors was fully disbursed across the surface of the lifts, although this may not have been necessary.
Happy with the purchase.
These fit under our chair legs and raises the chair six inches for my wifes hip operation. Very sturdy with a wide base for stability.
Within 6 weeks couch leg went right through the riser.
