Finally, a hand-mixer with a slow speed slow enough not to spew flour everywhere!

My mom still has her very old mixer from when she was a teenager. When you have it on the slowest setting, it slowly incorporates the dry ingredients in. But every modern mixer that I'd bought had such high speeds that even the low would just blow the flour out of the bowl, making a huge mess everywhere. Higher speeds and the turbo boosts were never even needed! It was always frustrating for me to use this as I never could seem to find a bowl tall enough to keep everything inside.

This mixer's slow setting actually is slow enough to be useful, though. I can gently mix the wet and dry ingredients without making a big mess! I've only used this a few times so far, so I can't speak to its durability, but I'm very pleased so far. It balances well on its end when you need to set it down and is such a pretty color too.

When I looked at the manual I was a bit sad to realize that other models came with extra attachments, however after looking them up it seems that those extra attachments, which can be purchased individually, are also compatible with this mixer. Since these beaters can be used for most things, I felt reassured that this was the right model for me, since I might as well not pay for the extra attachments unless I end up actually needing them in the future.

Not a good product. I've returned two of them now. It's too bad that KitchenAid is no longer a quality product. I won't rely on their name again in the future. This mixer is quiet. It does have a nice variety of speeds. They offer lots of pretty colors. BUT the beaters are thin, wiry, and very flimsy. On two orders of this same model, the beaters wobble when spinning and move easily if pushed against while beating (are not stable). Again, a feeling of very low quality.
This thing couldn't whip melted butter. Seriously under-powered. First time using it to try to mash potatoes - everyone had lumpy mashed potatoes. Thought the thing was going to burn up. And it was a gift so I was the jacka**...
Purchased this for my son & his new bride. Used it when I went down for their wedding first person to use it - and was completely disappointed with it. It has NO power - I ended up whipping cream for a dessert with their Ninja. I'm 3 states away, and not in a position to orchestrate a return; but I would If I could. I've apologized to them for this awful gift, and advised them to get rid of it. I'll end up buying them some other mixer, since this is such a worthless pile of plastic. Never thought I'd have to say that about a Kitchen Aid product!! Save yourself some trouble and disappointment, and purchase some other hand mixer.
This mixer has no speed whatsoever. My first real disappointment with any KitchenAid product. Never had lumpy mashed potatoes until I used this mixer. Cake batters will not mix. So disappointed. Maybe the one with more speeds would work better.
Do not let the slow speed fool you. This thing gets the job done. I've whipped cream, eggs, creamed cold butter to make chocolate chip cookies, and whipped up mashed potatoes and it did it all without being super loud. My old mixer sounded like a 747 taking flight. The slow speeds are actually slow and the high speed is more than adequate. In fact, I accidentally overbeat my mashed potatoes into a gluey mass because the sound was so quiet and the speed was so much slower than I'm used to. Because this mixer is designed so well, it does a lot more with a lot less. The beaters are easy to clean without the middle bar going down the center. They look thin but are strong and do not bend. I believe their hollow design is a big reason why this beater works so well. Science is an awesome thing.
As my dessert is baking in the oven, I thought I wouldn't waste another minute to let you know how tickled I am with this mixer. I checked out many hand mixers and read LOTS of reviews. This mixer doesn't disappoint in any way...It is lightweight, QUIET!!!!, low speed is VERY LOW, sturdy construction, and just plane delightful! The beaters are much thinner than my other mixer, but very powerful in delivery.
This mixer will get a LOT of use!
I bought this mixer because my wife bakes a lot, a lot. She was going through hand mixers left and right. The motors just couldn’t handle the load and would burn out. We bought this mixer and she was impressed with the power of the motor, it would easily get through the thickest of cookie doughs. After the third time using it the spot weld at the tip that joins the two pieces of beater together broke although it was still usable. She used them for another 6 months and then a weld at the base of the beater broke and then it was useless. It’s a shame that Kitchenaid makes such a good mixer but their beaters are garbage. I actually bought a $10 Proctor Silex mixer and those beaters fit this mixer and are made better and more durable. Like I said the mixer itself is awesome, the beaters need work.
