This product is ridiculously easy to install and use!
We bought this pump to replace the pump that quit working on one side for our 12yo Select Comfort Bed.
For starters.. The only real assembly work you have to do is take two screws out of the SC original pump , remove the cover, then disconnect the air hoses.
DO NOT disconnect hoses from bed itself.
The new pump comes with very easy to use screw on to the end of the air bladder hoses quick release connectors. Whereas you have to disassemble the factory original pump to disconnect the hoses, with the new pump it is as easy as two quick release fittings.
All of that said... Once the hose were attached and two AAA batteries installed in the remote (NO TWO CORDS to strangle yourself in the bed with anymore!!!!) it lit up and immediately tested the air pressure in each badder. Then it really was as simple as choosing either the left or right side of the bed with a click of the button, and inflating to desired firmness.
The pump is literally whisper quiet.... think aeration pump on a small fish tank (compared to the sleep jarring noise the factory original has always made)
I not only would buy this product again, I've emailed links to it to several friends I know that have Select Comfort beds as well.
I like the new pump. It is quiet and the remote works well. My older air bed has 1/2" id air tubing and the adapters the ship with the pump are designed for 3/8" tubing. I was not able to find an adapter for that online soI rigged up my own. If you have this issue, you will need 4" of 3/8" tubing, a 1/2" to 3/8" tubing connector and two 1" pipe clamps plus the quick attach adapters that come with the pump. See the attached photo. Make one up for each hose.
its a good replacement - the existing one from Sleep number was like 10+ years old when it stop working. It uses two holes vs. four of existing (just needed to seal the one not use for either side of the bed). Quality control need some work as my have a lose part inside - you can hear it rolling inside the unit. I did open it and remove the broke plastic piece. Also, no one seem to have mentioned that it does not work like the Sleep Number remote - you don't set the desired number and it will pump the right amount of air, etc. The display number is from what is inside of the bed as air goes in/out. You have to stop the pump once you hit your number spot. No biggie. Just minor diff.
Four stars for my initial experience. I don’t know how long this will last. I ordered it as my long serving Select Number bed blower went out last week. Install was simple and straight forward. No instructions were given so I did what was logical. The air tubes can connect directly to the blower so I did not use the connectors that were included. I did use the connectors that came with the bed to connect with the air chambers. This blower is much quieter but less volume. Not a problem since you don’t need much once the air chambers are mostly inflated. The remote worked on the first try and now we have actual LED readout. (Our older model did not have the read out). So we actually upgraded. It also has a memory feature that allows you to set the desired pressure and will pump to that pressure and stop automatically. Craziest experience is that my original order was mishandled. It did not arrive as promised. When I contact Amazon, they contacted the carrier, determined that they did not know when that package will get to me. So I ordered another at 10:30 AM and Amazon expedited it and I received it at 5:30PM same day.
I will review this in a year or so and give it 5 stars if it’s still working well.
Bought this as a replacement for older sleep number mattress pump that died. Works well overall. The number display on the remote does not function same as original sleep number, so you can't go off of what you previously knew. The number displayed on this remote does not seem to consistently go up or down when inflating/deflating. Have to gauge by feel vs the display. Works fine for us though despite this and kept us from having to buy a new bed, which obviously would have been MUCH more expensive. Thankful they make this product.
A great pump and easy installation, if you don't try to disassemble the old unit. I wasted a lot of time trying to disassemble the old Select Comfort pump, and ended up cutting off the hoses anyway. The Replacement Wireless Air Bed Pump comes with fittings of their own. Just unscrew the tubing side of the fitting and slide the compressor ring onto the tubing. Insert the new fitting and then screw the compressor ring onto the fitting to secure the tubing. Next pull the connection collar back and snap the new fitting onto the pump, release the collar ring to secure the hose. Put the batteries into the remote and plug the 12V power supply into the pump. The LED witll go from red to green when it connects with the remote. The instructions on the back of the remote and on the instructions included with it are quite a clear explanation of the remote and pump operation. I let it pump to a reading of 50 (quite firm), then backed it off to my comfort level.
Installed it yesterday - most of the effort involved opening the mattress and removing the old unit, while trying to prevent leakage
(which really is not a problem, I just don't like to let it get away!)
Here are my early observations
1) Whisper quiet comared to original pump (VERY old) no idea if they have changed over the years
2) Wireless remote (hated the corded one)
3) Smaller, low profile compared to the old one, no bulky unit to try to find room for
4) Pumps up the bladders quickly
5) Have not tried to figure out the "memory" settings, don't think I need that feature
All in all, much better unit than the original SN pump
