DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, PURCHASE THIS BED. The customer support for the product is a joke. We called to ask for a replacement piece for the wooden slat that broke. They claimed that they couldn’t even verify that it’s their product and so they couldn’t give me a replacement piece. I could buy one wooden slat for $75 and that was my only option.
We got the grey color. Definitely has a good mix of tan and grey, but we were expecting that based on the customer photos and reviews. It arrived in two big boxes and took two of us about an hour to put together. The instructions were easy to follow and it was nice to not need any tools beyond the one thing that was already in the box. It’s absolutely gorgeous in person!
Unfortunately, one of the bed slats snapped in half the very first time my husband (who is only about 190) got into bed. This makes me pretty nervous for long term, normal use. So now, we’ve got a snapped wooden slat and have to deal with hopefully getting a replacement for it. I’m also considering getting a bunkie board for it instead, but am concerned about the maximum weight on the bed since we have a foam mattress which is already heavier than a spring mattress. We’ve had an IKEA Malm bed for about 4 years with no issues so it was really disappointing to see this happen on the first day.
The bed is nice. It took me 1.5 hours with help from two other friends to set up the bed. Setting up the bed was moderately difficult. Anyways, we set it up, but as we reached the part where we have to install the slats, I missed one of the instructions. I plugged the one-sided slat connector, on the middle support of the bed, instead of the double-sided slat connector. That was my fault. But then when I tried pulling out the plastic connectors from the metallic support, the connectors started breaking. Apparently, there is no way to take those connectors out without breaking them. Moreover, there are no extra connectors provided in the box. Would also like to point out, if I decide to disassemble the bed and move later on, how do I take the slats out without breaking the connectors. Basically, the company should send 20-30 extra connectors for such situations, since they have a mildly faulty design for the connectors. Rest of the parts are fine. Waiting to hear back rom the company to get an extra supply of connectors.
I love this bed. I have been wanting to leave feedback for sometime but am just getting around to it now. I follow the Novogratz on Facebook and saw this after they posted the link. It was just at the time my husband and I were SO over our old headboard and foot board bulky bed. We wanted something streamlined and sleek and this bed is that! We love the Mid-Century Morden decor ....but our bank account doesn't. I highly recommend this if you're in the same boat! I do want to mention it is not a TRUE grey color it is more of a taupe/grey.... warmer.... I was not disappointed but I do feel that was something that needs to be said. As far as the mattress we purchased one at Ikea (nothing fancy10-11 inches thick) and we did not use a box spring/base, it is just the mattress on the platform slats and it works perfectly. Also, Amazon had it cheaper than hay needle or overstock.... We highly recommend this bed...
Really happy with this purchase. It looks great, but feels even better! We have been sleeping better on this bed with slats than we did on our previous box springs. No squeaks, super solid. Super happy! The box is heavy (90 lbs) but directions were simple and took about an hour to assemble. WOULD BUY AGAIN!
This was bed was meant as main bed in my master bedroom. At first the bed was great, but now after a month or two it has started to squeak from various parts on the headboard and underneath the mattress. I only weigh 210 pounds and my girlfriend is like 110. So I wouldn’t think it is from that.
The good first - the slats are great and the bed is solid. Our last bed had wooden slats that shifted all over the place. Now the not so good. The color. I wanted a soft pink but this is almost lavender. The quality is not that great. The fabric is stapled to the frame and not finished that well. I guess for what I paid I got that quality. I would not buy this again and next time would spend more money to get a better bed.
For an inexpensive bed, it is high style, high quality and high stability. While assembling the bed is time-consuming, it is not difficult. I would not remove a star for that at all. The bed frame is solid, no wiggling or looseness. The slatted base is better than a box spring. And the design is unbeatable. The only issue has is the color, gray linen, is a perfect description of the color but the gray/brown of the color of the headboard makes duvet/comforter selection tricky as most come in pink, blue, gray and white. I love the color - it just makes color coordination a bit of a challenge is all.
I'd recommend this bed to ANYONE!
Also - it comes in 2 boxes. One for the head board and one for all the long pieces of the bed.
We LOVE this bed! I was hesitant to order it as it is so hard to know if furniture ordered online will really be as pictured but this one is great. Our previous upholstered bedframe had an awful support/leg system and the legs were constantly folding in under the bed. This one is so much more sturdy and a much better design. The fabric is an attractive, textured gray and sewn well. Assembly took awhile but the instructions were clearly written and all parts arrived undamaged and packaged pretty well. Overall it looks much more expensive than it was and is a great quality piece. If you are on the fence.. order it! The support slat system alone makes it a winner and the look is very upscale. Well done Novogratz!
