A neighborhood cat suddenly adopted us as a barn cat... and there is literally no such thing as a “barn” cat to my wife... so now suddenly we had a new “house” cat.
Well, the other house cat wasn’t pleased. At all. So now we suddenly had the dueling of the recliner - only cats don’t step away 20 paces and draw cute little cat sized revolvers... No. It could never be as simple or efficient as that.
No. Instead, they pee.
Well, I wanted to stay married... so I couldn’t relocate the “barn” cat turned “house” cat. But I also wanted to keep my recliner cat-pee-free...
Thus, my search on Amazon.
So, basically you could say this waterproof recliner and couch cover isn’t just exceptional. It’s marriage saving. And sanity saving. And literally the next best thing to sliced bread. Probably better than that, actually.
We’ve washed it (I’m lying... “we” haven’t washed it...my wife has washed it...I do the dishes and mop the floors instead) at least 40 times and it still looks brand new.
The cats have settled down and now prefer carrying out their disgruntled behavior by opening all our kitchen cupboards and drawers instead of peeing, so it isn’t really necessary anymore... but we leave it on...just in case.
So yes, I recommend this product to anyone who wants to save their marriage and their furniture.

 Since Greg messed up my sofa several times, I almost gave up. He scratched the surface and my kid spilled smoothies on the sofa sometimes has driven me crazy. Then I did my research and seeking the product both feature WATERPROOF and THICK enough. I don't usually write reviews, but I really recommend this cover. Good deal.

Short version: The waterproof layer in this couch cover doesn't survive when washed according to instructions. Don't waste your money.

Long version: We purchased the cover because we have cat whom we love dearly, but has... issues. His favorite place to have those issues is on our couch. We figured a couch cover was a good investment; perhaps we should have not picked the lowest priced cover. At first we were pleased by the amount of padding and the grippy rubber backing. We put it straight on the couch as we'd just had it cleaned and were having guests over. A few days later, cat had a mistake, and the cover worked great. Threw the cover in the wash as per the directions... back on the couch... and it was no longer waterproof.

I'll give the company credit: when I contacted them about the issue, they quickly offered a refund or replacement. (Hence why they get 2 stars instead of 1) We picked replacement... we should have just taken the refund. They sent us a second one, and it was the same thing all over again. I was tempted to air dry the cover, but the instructions said Tumble Low. I figured it ought to hold up to the instructions they'd printed on their label. Nope. I took pictures this time and sent it to the company. They said they'd check with their technician... and then replied that the washing must be the problem and that they will improve the quality in the future. And that was it. So, don't waste your money, this is a low quality item that doesn't work. I don't have money to lose on things like this, and I feel like I should have known better.

I asked, does this work with leather? Reply basically was yet. I can now tell you after have used this on a leather recliner for several weeks now it stays in place quite well.
I've bought another cover for my leather recliner and every time I got up it would have to be repositioned without fail.
Absolutely recommend this slipcover for those that have a leather recliner. There are little flower shaped sticky pads on the back of the slipcover that work very well in keeping the it in place.

I was disappointed with this purchase. I have infant twins and a dog that sheds so I was hoping this would preserve our couch. The cover was "crunchy" to sit on and would NOT stay in place. I got fed up and took it off after two days. Might work better with a firm couch, but definitely did not work for us.

Construction of layered material top (poly/cotton?) scratchy sheeting and bottom of supposedly (NOT!) waterproof layer with backing of grippy surface to prevent slipping. I had previously purchased a soft velvety cover that was not waterproof and had layered the “waterproof” cover on top. Unfortunately my cat had urinated on the new cover (unwashed). When I removed the waterproof cover for washing the old cover also had cat urine on it. I was very disappointed in the product performance. I’ve purchased some PUL, a laminated fabric that is used in making reusable diapers, to sew on the back of my old cover. PUL runs about $10 a yard, 2.5 - 3 yards is enough to cover the couch and if you buy it with Joann’s coupon you can save up to 50%. The back of the cover does grip the leather sofa well and does not shift but the fabric that is outwards facing is scratchy and unattractive.
