This island is so attractive that we will be doing a kitchen update around it. In fact, the island has so enhanced the existing 50-year old kitchen that we will be having the cabinets updated with new doors and hardware refinished to match, rather than having to replace everything as originally thought.

Members of our family who have very discriminating taste in home furnishings said it was "Beautiful!" Others who have visited have said the same thing.

It is not only extremely attractive and high quality, but functional. It has provided a huge amount of additional space (interior cabinet in the center is 20" x 20" x 20" with two shelves accessible from both sides). I used the cabinets for very helpful storage (see photos), placing specific items on the side of the cabinet facing where they are most needed; and the drawer for all my "office" items, such as pens, pads, stapler, etc. for incoming mail, bills, etc. and other household business activities. No more searching for pen and paper and other supplies on the fly when they are needed.

Furthermore, we have a small-medium size kitchen that's "square". We were told by a contractor AND a realtor that there was no way to put an island in our kitchen, which already has a kitchen table along one side of the room. However, this island was just the perfect size for the middle of the floor (see photos) because it's not too long, while still offering a perfect size for extra counter and work space, and cabinet storage as noted above.

It is going to make it possible to completely update the kitchen around it and make everything look "just right" without spending a huge amount of money on a new kitchen; that's how significantly the quality and appearance of the island enhances the room.

It's one of the best purchases I have made for the house in decades and has added exceptional value. I would highly recommend this island to anyone looking for "Old World" style done with exceptional good taste.

This kitchen island was relatively easy to assemble. The only tools we needed were a phillips screwdriver and the hex wrench provided. There were a few extra bolts provided, which I didn't need but saved just in case. I highly recommend you build this with at least on other person to save time and also frustration. You really do need an extra pair of hands or two. My husband, sister and I build the island and the chairs together and it took us about 2 hours. I'm very happy with the quality of the island and chair and think it's well worth the $700 we paid for it. The reason I didn't give it five stars is because one of the doors does not close very well. It appears something is not quite right with the hinges which is super annoying given that everything else fits so well. That one door pops out a good four inches. Thankfully the magnets that keep the doors closed is strong enough to the keep this problem at bay.

This is a great, non-permanent solution to an island!!

It appears to be mostly if not entirely solid wood.
It's very sturdy.

I was able to build it entirely by myself.
The cabinet on the bottom is accessible on both long sides.
The drawer in the middle opens from both long sides.
You can also easily push it up against a wall & only use 1 long side (which is what I intend to do).

The coloring is nice, if you like antique white/distressed items.
It's slightly yellow-white with black streaks to indicate "age". There's also a few tan spots (like little paint splatters)...
The wood top is slightly darker than normal "medium" colored wood & laminate wood flooring. The wood top does have little pits as normal wood would.

I'm currently repainting the antique white portion to a standard white & will be leaving the wood knobs & wood top original.

This island is beautiful! I did alot of research before I picked one and finally settled on this and I'm very happy. I rated 4 instead of 5 stars because the wood is a little darker than pictured so it doesn't quite match my hardwood floors but it can be easily overlooked because it's such a classy piece. It did come in several large boxes but I was able to put it mostly together by myself and I have little to no experience with assembling furniture. I only needed help with putting the counter top on because it is very heavy. I definitely recommend.

We are very pleased with this item. It took some work to assemble, but I was pleasantly surprised with a couple of things that I expected to have to assemble came fully assembled (namely the entire top with drawers, and the four support columns). There were a couple of very minor points where holes didn't line up nicely, but they were manageable, and a couple of pieces of the side/back that didn't fully fill the space, but they are not obvious from the outside. Once together, it fit beautifully into our small kitchen nook to provide a little seating plus additional storage. With all of the choices out there, and the difficult decision to purchase something of this nature online, I could not be more happy with the result.

Very pleased. Had an issue with the top being scratched, we called the manufacture and they sent out just the product we needed. The phone number was right on the side of the box. Nothing to return like other reviews stated. If you call amazon, they reship the complete set and then you haft to return. With 5 - 80lb boxes its alot of hassle. We get so many compliments. It's a very heavy and sturdy. Seams and screws all lined up nice. Took my husband and hour to assemble the island and about 10 minutes for each chair.

 Oh my gosh, where do I start with this kitchen island. I can honestly say, this is the easiest thing I have ever assembled. I changed the handles to metal brownish from the original wood. I also order a Smokey grey tempered glass instead of the wood, as I feel it doesn’t match my kitchen/dining room. The island is beautiful, and SOLID. If I had a contractor match my island to my kitchen/dining room table, it would have cost me $3000 CAD. I was surprised when I installed the drawer. It goes both ways. There are doors on both sides as well. Guess I missed that in the specs. I just love the look of it. The footprint is perfect. This piece is absolutely incredible. I have gotten so many compliments already. The only constructive criticism I had with the assembly were the round things that rotate to the screws. They keep falling out. The holes were drilled slightly bigger. Even when I open the doors, they fall out, so I used a little piece of paper towel inside before I inserted and tighten them. Obviously I need a better solution, but this will do for now. Unless, Amazon can offer another solution. I will check with them.

You will not regret buying this island. One of the best pieces I have ever bought.

Update: I rec’d the Smokey grey tempered glass and I absolutely love it! Awesome addition to my kitchen. One of the best things I’ve bought with Amazon. ❤️

Love my new island. From the moment it arrived EARLY to our house it took us 45 minutes to unpackaged and assemble the island! All instructions were clearly outlined, parts were labelled correctly. They provided you with an extra of each fastener just in case. Hubby was pleasantly surprised by the clear instructions and ease of assembly! Love the completed product!!!

This kitchen island looks great and is very sturdy. However, I have to point out the fact that the 'distressed oak' goes beyond the fact that there are 'burning marks' on the edge (what I agree is distressed wood) but there are also a lot of small punctures all over the island top and the chairs top. I did point this out to the company I bought it from Cymax Stores and they responded that this was part of the 'distressed' look. They did offer to replace the tops but that they would likely have the same punctures. They also gave me a 10% refund on the purchase which was welcome.

Overall, I am very pleased with this item. I'm not putting 5 stars because of what I think should spelled out in the description as to not be surprised while assembling the unit. Note that there is quite a bit of assembly required and it would be hard to assemble alone.

I would recommend this item to anyone. It looks great in our kitchen. It got here super fast, one week exactly. Sturdy and very solid, great quality for the price. It was packed really well, lots of padding. Easy to put together, took about an hour or so. This was our first time buying such a large item on line and we had no troubles what so ever. Would do it again.

The product came very quickly and was very well packed. It arrived in good order. It is a very substantial piece of furniture and heavy. It is exactly as the picture shows. As others mentioned, it does have some small holes on the top surface, not sure why they are there. Nonetheless they don't show enough to be a problem. All in all a good product.
