We ordered these chairs from Amazon to save a little money. The chairs are neat, and definitely give off a vintage pilot lounge vibe, BUT, they are more narrow than I expected in the seating area, and the metal is held together with screws, not rivets, which I feel like my A&P is going to squawk when he sees them.
Overall, neat, but not the most comfortable of chairs. The areas where the sheet metal connects are rough, and I’m concerned that the screws on the inside of the chair might catch a piece of clothing too.
I really wanted to give these chairs a 5 Star review, but this family of pilots just can’t do it.
The chairs pictured in the listing clearly show them upholstered in leather. The color is described as "Retro Brown Tg Leather & Aluminum." The seller uses the term "top grain leather" but these chairs are fabric and aluminum, not leather. Please compare the pictures I have included showing the seller's photos on the left and the chair I received on the right. When contacted, the seller stated that the chairs are "leatherette' and that the description is correct. The seller agreed to accept a return but would not pay for the shipping charge back to INDIA (which would have been almost $2000 for two 70 pound chairs). These chairs are heavy and appear to be well-made, but I was very disappointed to receive fabric instead of leather.
The chairs are unique and whimsical. They are just perfect for my home which is stuffy and full of beautiful antiques. They are a breath of fresh air with their aeronautical theme.
As well as being amazingly cool looking, they seem to be well constructed, the leather is beautiful and soft, the padding is firm, and they are very comfortable. I like the fact that they are on the smaller side - perfect for me at 5'7, and comfortable for my 6 foot husband as well. I can even curl up sideways and prop an arm over the back. I put them on a 22 inch swivel base and they work great that way - plenty of "meat" underneath to attach to.
Love these chairs! They could have better lumbar support, but a pillow solves that issue. They are so cool looking, very retro. Leather is high quality, as is the construction. And the packaging was so protective, it took some muscle and time to unpack.....which was a good thing! Highly recommended for the price we paid ($650 each, including shipping....now on site for a bit less). We have another chair (swivel) by the same company, again a really good purchase.
I looked for a while for a small footprint chair for my office. I saw this at a local furniture store but the price was too high. I immediately came home and searched here. Found this chair and the price was significantly less. It is exactly what I wanted. High quality leather and build. Everyone comments how cool this chair is. It is not a wide chair, but is comfortable. It does sit low to the ground. I absolutely love this chair so much, I bought a second one to go with it. Highly recommend.
Bought this chair to sit by the front door to put on and take off shoes. It is comfortable just not the most comfortable kind of a low sitting position, nonetheless it is a good looking chair and I have no problems recommending it, especially compared to the same looking chair I saw in Restoration hardware.
I bought 2 of the Brancaster Retro Brown Top Grain Leather and Aluminum Chair and they arrived in boxes lined with Styrofoam and where in perfect condition. Also they had rivets NOT screws. Wife and I are very pleased with the comfort and quality of these chairs!!! They fit our small space perfectly and have a low profile so the room does not look crowded. Can't say enough!!
