DHP Twin-Over-Full Bunk Bed with Metal Frame and Ladder, Space-Saving Design, Black

When I was a kid, we had a similar bunk bed. But nothing broke in like 8 years. This bed is made cheap, fast. Not safe. We put it together less than 24 hours ago and our son got a hold on the rail on top bunker and it broke. He hurt himself. Be aware. I'm very disappointed with this. And I looked at the other soldered parts/ joints, and it's poorly done.

Premiium quality, very sturdy black metal bunk bed frame- really attractive sleek look and space saver. Got this for my 2 kids that are aged 7 years old and 3 years old. My parents got me & my sister a wooden bunk bed when I was in elementary school - that wooden bunk bed made me think that all wooden bunks are just junk, no matter how pretty they look in pictures. My sister and I broke the slats on the top bunk of that wooden bunk bed years ago, within 2 weeks of being installed in our room (broke under the weight of the mattress when I bounced a little too hard), rendering it dangerous and useless. So I knew I'd never get one for my kids.
This ultra strong metal frame bunk bed is more than perfect - love it. I love that the top bunk rail is also high enough that even with the mattress in, the railing still gives 4-5 inches above the mattress so in case my son rolls around while he sleeps, he will not roll off. On the bottom bunk, there is roomy space for a full size + bed. Cant say enough good things about this sleek, strong, sturdy bunk bed that is worth more than the price we paid for it. LOVE it. Worth every dime of purchase and sooooo glad we got it. ADDED: I also wanted to add that this bunk bed has no sharp edges anywhere. I was trying to hang some clothes on it, and realized that there are no sharp edges anywhere - it is such high quality made specifically for kids that the builders made sure that everything is rounded. Kids cant stab themselves accidentally on any edges. Everything is round and smooth. Again- LOVE this bunk bed. So so glad I got it- such a great (reasonable / inexpensive) price for such a premium quality product.
I purchased this bed for my 16 and 19 year old boys who still have to share a room. The full size on the bottom was an approvement for my 6'4" son to spread out a little. He can have the bigger size without it and another bed side by side taking up all their room space. Walmart had this same bed for the same price I got it but with it being a Prime item I got it delivered to my house in 2 days and didn't have to worry about getting it in my car. It is very heavy. Also was easy to assemble me and my 16 year old did it.
There is much to like about this unit.
The package arrived in one large (and heavy) box. I used a handtruck to aid in bringing it into the house, then opened it and carried it to an upstairs bedroom in pieces.
The instructions are fairly straightforward, with good pictures. All of the pieces are clearly labeled. I spent 1 hr, 45 minutes putting it together. A couple of times, I had to remove a part and turn it 180 degrees because I had not realized that I installed it backwards until I went to fasten something else.
Once put together, the bed seems fairly sturdy, but when someone climbs the ladder, the whole structure shakes a little.
The fasteners are allen-heads, and I had difficulty getting some of them to start threading. It takes patience. Once they are started, they thread right in. For certain stages of assembly, it may help to have a second person hold things in position while you get the fastener started. It is easy to strip out the allen-head of the bolts. It would have been better if they had gone with a torx-head.
Installation of the slats is a longer-than-needed process due to their being a couple of hundred components (literally, not an exaggeration) in the assembly. In additional to sliding in the metal slats, of which there are plenty, you also have to snap in plastic connectors (3 per slat on the upper bunk, 4 per slat on the lower bunk). The good news is that if you ever disassemble the unit to move it to another location, complete disassembly is not required. You could probably disassemble it, move it to another room, and re-assemble it within a half-hour or so.

Note that the top bunk has guard rails, but the manual says your mattress on that bunk should be maximum 6" thick.
The physical appearance of the unit is fine. The packaging included foam and cardboard to prevent scratching during shipping. The bolt heads are black, so they do not really stand out amongst the black finish of the bars. On some of the more expensive bunk beds, the fasteners appear quite prominently, even at a distance.
One negative that comes to mind is that the ladder's rungs are fairly thin, so a heavier child might find that to be painful.

All in all, this seems to be a decent unit for the price. It was actually the cheapest twin-over-full bunk bed that we saw anywhere, and we shopped around. It doesn't look like the cheapest, though. The finish of the paint is more of a satin finish, which looks much nicer than I thought. I was expecting a cheap-looking glossy finish.

One last thought: You can easily slide another 6" mattress underneath the lower bunk to use as an emergency sleeping arrangement for a guest, or for your kids' occasional sleepover. If you look for bunk beds with a trundle, they can be quite expensive, so you can satisfy the same occasional need just by sliding a mattress underneath this unit...like a poor man's trundle bed...
Very nice looking bed. It takes awhile to put together so that is why only 4 stars. There are lots of bolts and screws etc and it is very time consuming. Not hard, just time consuming. My husband helped me put it together and it took us several hours. All the parts were there and it went together easily, just takes time. There is a large white sticker on the top head board. Not attractive, it says do not remove, but just gives instructions in several languages to not hang items from the railings. I did remove it, but it took another hour and a glue dissolving liquid to get it off.
As far as "cost effective" bunk beds go, this is the best. Setup was a bit confusing. Make sure to pay close attention and read the directions. I also added an extra support in the middle for the bottom bunk for layin in bed with my kids and watchin sponge bob. Im 200lbs and with two kids jumpin up and down you can really feel the bed flex. I am very happy with it. My daughters are even more happier. Id buy this again if needed.
This product arrived very quickly. The box it comes in is large and heavy so make sure you have help. The instructions for putting it together are minimal so when it says dont tighten up the bolts till the end, that is important. We found that some pieces could go together several different ways, and then got further along and found out it had to go the other way. That meant taking everything apart again. However, we did get it together without a divorce and it is good. One thing is that it is very high and there is no break in the side rails to get into it, so if you have a low ceiling it could be a problem.
The product arrived earlier than estimated. I appreciated the free delivery. It was easy to assemble. Like everything else reading the instructions was useful and they were clear and were reinforced by the accuracy of the pictures. This product met our needs exactly as we had understood the dimensions and relationship of top to bottom measurements
It went together nicely after I put a couple pieces in the wrong place. Many small support pieces that my wife found . Seems to be a solid bed. As mentioned by another , dumb place for sticker.
Love it. It's super sturdy and fairly easy to put together. It takes two people to do. I'm impressed with the design of the slats. Kids have a blast with it. When putting together be mindful of hole placement so ensure it's the right way. We took it apart a couple times but got the hang of it pretty quick.
Great value and although I some reservations about people saying bunk was noisy that has not been my experience. I was also able to put it together in under 3 hours by myself even making a few mistakes along the way (I recommend you don't fully tighten until almost done)
After about one week of use, the bed became squeaky and loose. I tightened all bolts, but this lasted until the next use. I would not recommend.
Easy to assemble! Great buy! My daughter love it
Shipped very quickly. Very easy to assemble and very sturdy. Pay close attention to the directions and you will be good to go!
