139 minute feature movie run time on the DVD, 27 minutes longer than the theatrical version. The Blu-Ray is the theatrical version and is just 112 minutes, don't buy that one.My wife loved her trip down memory lane, and was surprised to see the additional scenes. This is a classic film. I watched it again because the new Mary Poppins steals so much from the underwater scene. This is so much better than most contemporary Disney Films. It is truly a classic, and you won’t be disappointed! It still had the magic from when I watched it 25 years ago as a child! I could watch the final 20 minutes 100 times and not be disappointed! If I ever have children, this will become a staple of their childhood films, just as it was one of mine! Angela Landsbury is amazing, the backdrop is amazing, and my goodness, the special effects of the armor are wonderful, considering that there is no CGI. If only Disney would again portray such wholesome characters who stand up to defend their country during the most harrowing of times! Bravo for making such a light hearted and yet still serious movie for children! This is my all-time favorite Disney movie...like of all time...ever. It takes place during WWII in England...Angela Lansbury takes in three children who were evacuated from London because of the bombings. The kids don't want to be there...they miss their home in London (of course they do) so they try to escape...but when they do they happen to see something they shouldn't have and decide to stay. There's adventure, magic, music, dancing, mystery, intregue, a magical bedknob, an important soccer game, and a very special spell...you're whole family will enjoy this movie! I still enjoy it...and sing the songs out of the blue. The movie is a delightful family movie. I would not buy this Edition. In the extras of the Blu-ray Edition it talks about the extended version of the film. However the Blu-ray only contains the cut theatrical version. If you want the extended version talked about in the extras please buy the Bedknobs and Broomsticks DVD that was released in 2009 instead of the Blu-ray released in 2014. Amazon currently has the DVD on sale for only $4.99 as of the date of this review. This is one of my favorite movies from when I was a kid and I'm glad to have been able to share it with my daughter. It's a lot of fun and we both love it.There are some aspects of the movie that a kid won't totally get, like the whole notion it's during WWII and what that means. I know I never really got it at that grade school age, but it didn't make the movie less fun. I guess I just didn't really think about it at the time. The video quality is pretty noisy. The film grain and artifacts because of it make for a bit of "static" in the transfer that I wish they could have cleaned up. It's not a deal breaker, but with some of the other really nice transfers they've done of classic movies it'd have been nice to see the same treatment here. Live acting by the great Angela Landsbury and animation combine with witchcraft, war and old books to bring about an amazing story filled with singing and dancing and laughter. As an apprentice witch, Angela must get the final lesson for the animation spell she needs. With displaced was children in tow, she travels to London and an animated secret island looking for the spell she needs. They enlist the help of a confidence man who tries to leave when it appears that the children are hoping for a family. That is when the enemy soldiers show up and everything changes. Nonstop fun and adventure for the whole family. Maybe not one of the more well-known Disney classics, but it is a childhood favorite. It was purchased more for the fact that it will be kept digitally accessible, so I don't have to keep buying DVD's. When I'm feeling homesick or wistful, this movie is a happy reminder of my childhood. However, if you've never seen it, bear in mind that it was made in 1971! So the animation and special effects are not exactly on par with today's standards! Other than that, a great family movie. Little ones may be frightened of the "ghosts" and somewhat creepy moments of spell-casting, but a soothing word should help them understand that the ghosts and the witch are the "good guys." If Mary Poppins were a witch, this is her movie! When 3 siblings are sent to the country during World War II they aren't too happy about it. Then they discover that their hostess is enrolled in a magical correspondence course. She turns out to be able to do real magic! They travel to London to find the professor of her school and go on magical adventures that are sure to please the whole family. This is a must see, again and again for all ages and the whole family. You will not be disappointed!
