My Truck: 2015 Ford F-150 Lariat, 5.5' bed (important, note the bed size for this review)
I have seen this bed cover advertised here on Amazon and ebay, it's listed from many different sellers so I presume it's something made in China, Mexico, etc that can be bought wholesale or drop shipped. They use the same description/ ad images, the ones where two guys are standing on the cover that appears to be fitted on a white dually truck.
I recently purchased my used truck and it did not come with a cover, nor was there any protection for the bed. I spent more than I wanted on a work truck, so I needed to get a budget cover and mat, with intentions I might upgrade later.
My bed cover arrived damaged (a clip was broke) so I was debating on sending it back before even installing. Thankfully I didn't, the seller and I came to agreement I was happy with. Seller was very prompt in answering my messages.
INSTALLATION
The cover is a little heavier than my previous vinyl cover on my last truck, it has a nice sturdy feel. I'm 185lbs and if I stood on it in the center, it would probably hold me but would flex a little. It installed pretty easy, I just aligned it and tightened the brackets. It's important to note, the last panel on this cover does not fold up against the cab like several I have seen, but that's not an issue for me because it seems pretty simple to remove the cover if I need to haul anything that will take up the entire bed, very rare for me.
So, here's the important part. I have a 5.5' bed and this cover has six anchor points The brackets secure under the lip of the bed. The center anchor points align in a way where there is a bulge/support area and they will not secure, therefore I have to leave the two center anchor points disconnected. With that said, the other 4 anchor points appear to be enough to keep it secure to the truck. I'm not sure if this will be an issue with other bed sizes, so it may be wise to ask for measurements if this is a concern.
SECURITY
As mentioned in the previous section, I am unable to use two of the six anchor points because of alignment, with that said, I tried to lift the bed cover in those areas and it would not budge. I do not feel it affects the security at all, the cover still holds tight. Without opening the tailgate, there is no way to access the inside of your bed. Any determined thief could get in, but not easily, this will take a pry bar. My bed locks automatically when I lock my doors making this convenient, much nicer than having to use a key to lock and unlock, especially when I'm constantly getting in and out of the bed.
FIT & FINISH
I like the looks of the cover, it's a shiny black and looks like a quality cover. It's not flimsy or cheap looking. The seals seem to do a good job of keeping water out, though because the cover was boxed in folded position, two seals around the center are still compressed and have a slight gap, I may take a hair dryer to them and see if I can get them to expand.
I ran the truck through the car wash, this was going to be my first test to check for water tight. After the wash, I could see just a few drops of water in the left corner, this may be resolved by re-tightening the anchor point, but it was really so little it did not concern me.
You may not be able to use your remote to drop your tailgate. I know this may seem silly, but my truck has a nice little push button on the tailgate that will softly let the gate down. I can also do this with my remote. With this bed cover installed, the gate will not automatically go down, you have to give it a little pull or tug, nothing big, but because of the tight fit and seals, this feature no longer works. This has not been an issue for me, but it's worth noting.
SUMMARY
Overall, I'm very happy, and with this cover being half the cost of many hard covers, I think it's a bargain. It's a piece of mind knowing I can secure my tools in the bed of my truck, yet have easy access to them when needed. If I had to do this all over again, I would buy the same cover. I'm giving this cover 4 stars because of the anchor point alignment. I will report back in 6 months to a year to let you know how the cover is holding up.
