This cover does not stay in place. It is great if you never sit on the couch. It looks nice and washes well. This company offered me a refund for a five star review. I refused as this was unethical. Then I received an email telling me my money was refunded and they still want a change in my review. Well here it is.
I was looking for a sofa cover to use when we are out of town. (Our dog NEVER gets on the furniture when we are in town, but as soon as we head to the airport she's on the couch. I have no clue how she always knows!) We have an Ikea Ektorp couch, and most of the covers I saw seemed unlikely to be long enough. I also wanted one that was easy to wash and in a color that was tolerable for my living room.
This one matches surprisingly well, although I have no intention of using it when we are home, and it is just about perfect in width for my couch. The elastic strap comes detached, but hooks on kind of like a convertible bra strap. It was just long enough. Time will tell whether it will stretch out or not. The arm covers do not have any way to attach to anything, they just drape over. Because my couch has the chaise, I had to modify the cover to fit - I cut it and rebound the new edge with premade binding from Joanns. Overall not too difficult or expensive to do given that I have a sewing machine.
I have washed it twice in cold water and tumbled dry on low for a few minutes, and then hung it over a railing to dry completely. It did not shrink noticeably. The fabric is not quite as nice as cotton, but it's not bad. If you are concerned about a waterproof cover, I do not believe it would do more than buying you a few seconds to clean up a spill. If you hold it up to the light you can see straight through all the needle holes from the quilting.
Overall I am happy with this purchase. It keeps the dog hair and footprints off my couch, washes easily and I don't feel bad asking the dog sitter to sit on it the whole time :)
I am very disappointed. I purchased two for my sofas and they do not stay secured. If you look at these covers too long they slide out of place. I was expecting them to be more secured. There is nothing to hold the top of the cover in place, so as soon as you sit down, the top of the cover slides down behind your head. The arm rest part doesn't stay put and the strap on the covers only secure the middle of the covers. There should be straps to secure the headrest area as well as the bottom so it stays in place. I wasted $55!
I purchased 2 of these covers for my extra wide sofas. The color I chose was hunter green. Upon receiving, I noticed the color is actually lawn green and not the dark green hunter color, shown in the pics. Even though I am disappointed that it is not the color stated and shown in the pics, the overall quality of these covers were made very well and the texture of the material is also very well constructed. Except for the color not being hunter green, overall, I do like these covers.
We bought this as a cover for our couch with the intention of being waterproof (as claimed in the images). We unfortunately didn't read the fine print that it is not waterproof (despite the claims in the images). Our cat peed on it and the first time it worked well as waterproof. But as soon as we washed it, the coating or whatever made it waterproof went away.
The cover itself is good quality and easily washable in the washing machine. It's not too heavy so you can easily throw it on and take it off as well. Just don't expect any water or liquid resistance, it just soaks right through after washing it one time.
I like the coverage of the couch. It keeps all the hair on top and not falling onto the couch. I don't like that the couch is now not very soft and that hair on the couch cover sticks to the couch cover. I think I'll have to wash it in the washing machine a lot more than I expected. It came with a strange elastic piece I still never figured out how to use. It didn't come with instructions. Style-wise, our work couch now looks pretty homey. Perhaps pillows will make it better. We do have a throw blanket we bought separately that looks nicer than nothing on top. Horse is pictured for scale!
I got these because I’d bought my first brand new couch & loveseat set, then moved in with my fella who has 3 German Shepherds. We could train them to stay off, but they’re getting old, so we allow it, but I also don’t want my beautiful furniture destroyed.
I have a pretty standard sized Ashley couch & loveseat. I didn’t measure them at all, contrary to the seller’s instructions, but based off the reviews & knowing my furniture is pretty standard sized, I just went with it. These fit quite well. The couch one was about perfect & I’d say the loveseat cover is slightly large, but not more than a couple inches. They both fit my furniture very well.
I cleaned my couches, then laid these over. There’s not much to do, just set them over your furniture & adjust as needed. The strap hooks into the side of the top portion so you just lay it over, hook the strap in one side, then stretch it across to keep the back flap down and in the proper position. It holds the cover quite snugly, which is nice. I like that the side pieces are attached the way they are to catch any crumbs or dog hair that might try to get in the couch. There’s also a flap down the front in case one of the dogs wants to rub its back across the couch.
I just got them today, so I can’t say much about durability & longevity (they’re so inexpensive, I’m not expecting these to last forever). But so far, a dog has been laying on one & I've sat on it. They stay put well, moving a little bit as expected, but overall they stay in place. The material is comfortable, almost like a brushed suede feel. It’s not luxurious, but I feels sturdy & durable, which is what I want.
I’m very pleased with these. I don’t know what more they could do to make them any better. I think these are going to do a great job protecting my furniture from the dogs & whatever else might happen. I’d recommend these.
