First off, I hardly ever write positive reviews. If I like a product, that means it works the way it was intended and I just don't think to review it. While putting this frame together though, I was really impressed and decided to give kudos to the manufacturer.
The instructions are quite different from what I've seen on numerous other furniture assembly projects. In a typical experience you would find piece 1 and 7 and combine them in just the right way, without knowing which part of the furniture you are working. With Zinus, you match numbers to see where they connect. Sticker 1 goes up against the other piece with sticker 1! Once you get the gist of this system it is an amazing time saver!
Also, each step of the instructions have a closeup showing how the pieces fit together, AND, a thumbnail image showing which part of the frame I was working on! This is such a breath of fresh air when assembling. I always find it frustrating when connecting two pieces without having any idea how they fit into the final product. Granted, a bed frame is pretty simple, but I would be happy to build a dresser or desk using this system!
Finally, I was really impressed with some of the details on this frame. For example, the slats sit on a strip of velcro rather than just sliding around wood against wood. With the velcro you get perfectly spaced slats, and zero slippage. Brilliant!
My wife and I were ditching our old queen bed for a king and needed a new headboard to match our black bedside tables from Crate & Barrel. My wife was reluctant to order this one (which was about 1/4 the price of similar one's we found at our local furniture stores) based on a couple of the reviews here saying it was "flimsy". I convinced her we should give it a shot and she is thrilled. First of all it's solid as a rock... there's nothing remotely flimsy or compromising in the look, design or quality of the headboard or frame. It took us about 30 minutes to put together.
I've only had this bed for 1.5 months and it has already broken without being under any unreasonable conditions. I was simply sitting with my back against the headboard without any excessive pressure and the headboard broke where the peg attached it to the frame. This is definitely a case of poor materials and workmanship.
After deciding to upgrade to a king sized bed, I obviously needed a new platform to put it upon. After looking through Amazon I finally settled on this because of the overall height of it as well as the fact that it matches my existing bedroom furniture.
The packaging was very efficient in how the pieces were laid out, I'll admit it was a bit of an annoyance getting everything out, but that's only because each item sat within a larger piece so that very little space was wasted. Best part? the styrofoam that was offering impact damage protection, was inside a plastic bag (which will be recycled). So for the first time ever I didn't have all of the little annoying styrofoam bits to clean up as I broke everything down to be recycled.
Assembly was amazingly simple (speaking as a Veteran of Assembling IKEA furniture), 14 pieces overall, and hardware that was all a single sized hex key, which are normally very annoying, but in addition to the normal fare hex key that was sealed along with the various fasteners, was a ratcheting hex key. First time I ever saw one included with a "some assembly required" furniture piece, and it made putting everything together snuggly, very easy.
Material is all wood, and it doesn't seem to be composite or particle board, just very dry solid wood pieces with a finish on them.
I would definitely recommend this platform bed frame.
After doing some research, I decided to but this bed for my son’s Batman themed bedroom. It was delivered in a timely manner and it was very well packaged.
It is a very nice bed, although it was a little intimidating when I first took the parts out of the box. Everything changed when I saw all parts were numbered and instructions were very simple to follow. It all fit perfectly and all the tools needed (A Ratchet) were provided.
It took me no longer than 30 minutes to assemble the bed frame. The wood used to make this bed is pretty sturdy and there is absolutely no squeaking. Overall, This bed is well thought out and the designers took their time to take care of every single detail. You do not have to worry about the spacing between the slats because they are pre-assembled. You just have to stick them on to the frame. The slats also have non slip tape to prevent your mattress to move around. I will definitely buy from Zinus again when I remodel my bedroom.
We’ve had this bed frame for about a month and it is already falling apart. The problem is that it is just not sturdy. We purchased the king bed frame. It is positioned in our bedroom on a hardwood floor. In general, a king (or even queen) sized bed is so wide that in order for the frame to be structurally sound, there must be support in the middle of the frame. Otherwise the bed will sag. The fundamental problem with this particular bed frame is that it has a very flimsy structure for supporting the middle of the bed, and the metal supports that are supposed to hold it together are already bent and starting to shear. My wife and I combined weigh 370 lbs (I’m 220 and she’s 150). That’s below the maximum weight provided in the specs. Yet the bed creaks and groans - it is very noisy, even though we tightened all the joints as far as they would go — and the metal bars supporting the middle of the bed slide around as we move in bed, and will not stay completely perpendicular to the frame, no matter how hard we tighten the screws. They slide out of place and get crooked, and now over time they are breaking apart from the frame. We are going to have to throw it away and buy something else — something more sturdy from Pottery Barn, a real furniture store. Anyway, don’t waste your money on this frame. It designed poorly and won’t last.
We managed to get this bed frame at a pretty good price and it looks so nice in our bedroom. It's modern and the colour goes with everything. It was really easy to put together and it's help up really well so far. It's nice that it doesn't require a box spring however it's much shorter than our previous bed. We like it but it's something to note for when you purchase. Overall I would buy it again for another room as we like it so much!
It’s everything it said it would be
