I bought this bed for my daughter. I put the bed together, and it was going along fine until I was attaching the last rail (c) and I noticed that there were no threads in the hole. When i tried to insert the screw and install it, it just fell out. That did not happen with all the other rails. they all worked fine. the part was basically defective as there are no threads. So I called Zinus and I got an email from them after our talk. They were going to send me slats instead of the rail. So I called back and said, I don't need the slats, I need the rail C to be replaced. The man I spoke to said ok, they would expedite the request. About 15 minutes later I received an email that they will not be sending the rail, and I will have to deal with Amazon to send the whole bed back. I was like....REALLY? I need ONE part from you! I purchased this on October 22 so any warranty would still be good, right? I guess not. I am really disappointed with the Manufacturer on this one. All I needed was a part and they said NO.
One of the long beams broke. The beams are not solid pieces of wood; they are made of several smaller pieces jointed together.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!! This baby is SOLID wood. I am a 5' 5" 135pd woman! I had to take it upstairs piece by piece to assemble it upstairs! Which was super easy. I gave it 4 stars because of 2 things. First, the boards that go across the platform aren't as sturdy as the frame itself. I will probably add a large piece of ply wood in the future. Secondly, this didn't come with holes for headboard (which I forgot to check in the first place). Fortunately, I had help drilling in holes to align with a head board I already had!! So If you are worried about it not having the holes, DON'T. This wood is extremely sturdy!! If your handy or know someone that is, get this product!!
UPDATE : Ive now had this a for a week and take back my statement about adding more support! the beams are doing great! i have a 12 in mem foam bed, and the frame is holding it in place nicely!!! No squeeking. Boards are sturdy for what they are. FIVE STARS FOR SURE
The slats on this unit are spaced 3.5" apart, and come attached to each other on long strip of velcro. Before I purchased the frame, I contacted Zinus to make sure I could buy additional slats to keep them closer together. I am buying a very heavy latex mattress, and that is what is recommended. I was told "you may purchase additional slats if you'd like." Based on that guarantee, I invested in the frame and a latex mattress. When I contacted Zinus to buy the slats they promised, they told me I could buy them--- from "an outside source such as. Lowes, Home Depot, or your local hardware store." Say what? These slats are custom made--1/4" thick solid wood with affixed velcro tape that affix to velcro on the bed frame. No local stores sell these. You might be able to cut down 1/4" plywood, which is quite flimsy. They also told me that it would be "illegal"to sell them to me as they don't have pricing for them. I said if that was the case, they should send them to me for free as they broke their promise. After several emails, and dropping the CEO's name, another rep apologized for this first one, and indeed offered to send them for FREE. That was great news, until I received them. The new slats were a full inch shorter than the first and warped. Theywould not span the width of the bed. If you see the picture, they fall out. I can't believe they have that poor of quality control where they could send out such an unusable product. I sent them this picture and twice asked for a response, and customer service will no longer acknowledge me. If 3.5" spacing is good enough for you, and you want to take your chances with properly manufactured slats, this may be for you. Personally, I regret this purchase and would not recommend this company's products or customer service.
i confess, this bed was the first self-assembly in my life ever as i recently start to live alone in the city. i was afraid..what if I fail? so i checked through all the possible reviews of beds in amazon almost for 3 days to find what is perfect for me - easy to assemble, no special tools required. and this Zinus turned out to be correct. from unpacking to final stage it took about 1hr and 15mins. English is my 2nd language, so I took a few more minutes to read assembly guide to be careful. it has been 2 weeks so far using the bed - like other users, i also see that mattress above the frame is not perfectly fixed, but not as much as to ruin sleeping or bother you in daily life. you can have enough space below the bed to keep your travel luggages etc.
Highly recommend NOT buying this bed. It's made of pretty, solid wood — The main frame and four legs were easy to assemble. However, the 5 additional support legs do not work. The holes are drilled so wildly inaccurately, that one of the legs doesn't touch the floor. But worse, the other 4 legs are too tall and lift the bed over 1/8" off the floor in the center. So the entire bed acts like a seesaw. I had to remove all of the additional legs so the bed would sit flat, but it's no longer as sturdy. The solution I was offered was to disassemble the bed, pack all the pieces up (carry the HEAVY box down 3 flights of stairs) and return the bed for a refund or exchange. For $160 I think I'll just sleep on it until it breaks and consider this lesson learned.
This frame was super easy to assemble. In fact, my teenage daughters did it quite quickly! The special tool that is included made assembly a breeze! (I don't know why other companies don't think to design their tools the same way!?) The colour is rich and gives an elegant feel to the best. Frame is very durable.
I am very pleased with this platform bed. It looks great and my son had it assembled for me in less than half an hour. The only issue was the delivery. I expected it to be delivered to my door, but I had to arrange for someone to pick it up for me at the post office.
Slats were to far apart 10 slats when 19 were needed.
Legs didnt land evenly on floor.
Good price, nice sturdy bed, very easy to assemble.
