I absolutely love this cabinet. When closed it looks like a beautiful expensive piece of furniture. When opened the mattress is super comfortable. I'm using this in a loft for when we have over flow of guest. The space is about as tight as we can get and this just barely fits. Keep in mind this is a huge piece of furniture. Imagine folding a queen sized bed into thirds. I absolutely suggest this to someone looking for a Murphy bed. We've put a computer (not user daily) on top and this will serve as a tv for our guests.
We purchased this to go in a guest room that I didn't want to have a dedicated bed out all year when we only have guests rarely. The material is good heavy wood and the piece is very sturdy.
Only downside was a few of the bolts were a hair too short, so we had to make a trip to Lowes to find some longer ones. We got it together in the end, but I docked a star for it.
The memory foam mattress is firm and comfortable. The whole setup feels sturdy, and I don't worry about guests not being comfortable. The drawer underneath holds the bedding, so its very convenient.
Be aware the boxes are VERY heavy, so be prepared once they are delivered. Mine was delivered with no chips or scratches and was packaged really well to protect the wood.
Box delivered with no damaged. Opened box today parts chipped, cracked and gouges in finished areas, this item was manufactured and shipped damaged. I called manufacture prior to ordering and was told it was solid wood (rubber wood) it is not it is cheap particle boards covered with a very thin veneer (junk) lied to by manufacture. I have filed for a refund, would not buy anything from this manufacture. Very disappointed the factory must not have any quality control screws were also fell out in the box. Would not give this item any stars but it will not let me post a review if I do that
This review is for the queen size cabinet murphy bed that comes with a memory foam mattress. This is a great space saver for a guest room instead of stuffing a sofa bed in there. The other reviews were helpful with the reminder that this product is delivered curbside so it's up to you to meet the delivery truck and to move it into your home. The product came in 3 boxes strapped down to a pallet. I was lucky that I'm on the ground floor and have a furniture dolly and was able to roll all 3 boxes into my place. If you don't live on the ground floor and have a flat furniture dolly you definitely need someone to help you carry each of the boxes into your home. In terms of assembly it only took under 2 hours including breakdown of the boxes and chucking the pallet. The first box had the foam mattress, the second had the base with the telescoping drawer and the remaining box had all the panels. It helps to have a cordless drill to tap all the wood screws into the back panel versus doing it manually by hand and to tap the screws in for the hinges on the panel that folds out for the mattress to lay upon. The rest of the assembly was like putting together something from IKEA. Please note that the assembly can be done by one person but you need some upper body strength to move and handle the wooden panels and moving the base. It also takes a little doing to line up the hinges for the front panels that fold out on to the telescoping drawer. You can improvise with a folded piece of cardboard from the box these came in to prop the panel up. If you need to move and take this with you, you'll need to break it down again as it weighs more than several hundred pounds fully assembled. It was nice there were an extra screw/part for almost everything. The only thing off that I noticed was the finish on the front panels and drawers was spotty at best but not noticeable from a distance. It also has a chemical smell but that goes away eventually. This is a more practical solution than the classic murphy wall bed that requires a lot more work to attach to the wall - All the murphy bed kits I have seen, generally do not include a mattress which ups the overall cost. If you ever move or need to move the bed to do something like replacing carpet or putting in wood floors, you'll need to dissemble the murphy bed.
This Murphy bed was exactly what I have been looking for. It doesn't need to attach to a wall. It was easy to assemble. I am 75 years old and I was able to assemble it myself. The mattress is nice and thick too. It is great for overnight guests.
Better than I expected!
I have been shopping for a cabinet bed for awhile.. and was nervous about committing that amount of money to something I couldn't see.. finally did it.. and now wonder why I waited so long!
It was delivered by freight, they dropped it off in my garage, I was able to unpack it there ( and the packing was incrediable.. not one issue with damage to anything), carry it into the house, and had it set up within an hour.
Awful product. This is what you get for cheap Vietnam products.
Mattress is 'memory foam', but you lay on it and you can feel the wood on your back. Product showed up with wood cracking, screws missing, and nothing fit into place. Assembly time solo took 2 hours with power drill, additional parts. Once setup, this is a hazard. This needs straps to hold up against the wall to hold the chest so it does not fall over.
The only thing that worked is the extension cord for the outlet.
This company has no quality checking. This is terrible waste of money. I wish Amazon would pick this thing up. I would advise you to look for a Murphy / wall bed in a store before getting screwed like I did.
Good product- I have a small studio apartment and this makes it so that the whole room isn't taken up as a bed. The instructions were pretty good. the screws to attach the front decorative handles were too short, and had to replace them- that is the trickiest part to install. Took a few hours to install. Came in a few boxes. The delivery was not through the major carriers, but through a freight company- that gave little indication of arrival. They also would not take it past the driveway.
The bed is very comfortable!
