Ameriwood Home Carson TV Stand for TVs up to 50", Black

Read reviews that mention:

Overall I dont have any complaints about this tv stand. Took apox 2 hours to install.

Absolutely disappointed in how cheap the quality is. I should have known at the price point it was too good to be true. Let’s start with the assembly, you need two people and it will take a solid hour. I should have stopped and packed this up then and there but I tried to make it work. While attaching the legs on the stand, the fake wood pretty much dissolved and the leg could no longer be screwed in. I didn’t even put it too tight for that to happen but it did. So we took off the other legs and decided F it, we will use it without the legs and have it lay flat on the floor.

About a week later my very curious puppy decided to have a field day with the corner of the piece. I was horrified at how easily the strips that go around the piece were coming off. To put this in perspective on my last tv stand (made of actual wood) my puppy was not able to make serious damage if she tried to chew the corner. Long story short the piece completely came undone with the slightest of efforts. A month after being put together the door fell off. If you live alone with no pets and no children this may possibly work for you. But I would recommend investing in a quality piece.
This review is for both the Altra Carson TV Stand for TVs up to 70" and the Audio Stand. I purchased one TV stand and two audio stands (both in black/cherry) and they look great as a set. The total set is about 98" wide so you will need a long empty wall if you intend to set up the full set. The items cannot be purchased as a set with the 70" TV stand size. I received the audio stands first so I assembled them prior to receiving the TV stand. It about two hours to put together the two stands. The most challenging part to assemble was the doors as you have to use a guess and check method to get the doors aligned correctly so they do not scratch against the top and bottom when they open and close. The top of the stand is about 55" tall, and you essentially get four shelves on each stand in addition to the storage behind the door. The instructions advise not to put anything on the top of the stand, but if you have something less than five pounds that is not breakable I think it would be safe. The storage area behind the door is very spacious, and I was able to fit about 55 blu-ray discs and almost 100 CDs (I put the CDs in the back and the blu-ray discs in front, so in the picture you can't actually see the CDs).

The TV stand was more time consuming to put together than one audio stand which makes sense because it has many more parts. The box weighs about 98 pounds, so it is strongly recommended to have someone help you move the box especially if it is going to be between floors. When assembling the TV stand, you will need a good deal of floor space to lay all of the pieces and hardware. The directions were very straightforward, and as with the audio stands the door hinges were the most challenging. The instructions do not list a drill as a required tool, but I do not think I could have assembled the doors without one. Without a drill, you would probably need a second person to hold the door in place while screwing. The storage behind the doors on the TV stand do not have nearly as much room as the audio stand, and are more appropriate for remotes, controllers, and manuals than media. Each level of the TV stand has a wide opening for cords in the back, but no real cord management system. I used cable ties and mounts to better organize my cords. I have a 65" TV, and it is about 1.25" away from the edges on each side, so a 70" TV would definitely be the largest size one could have without having the TV extend beyond the edges of the stand.

When put together, the TV stand and two audio stands look like one complete unit as the height of the TV stand is the same as the bottom level of the audio stand. The only change I would have liked is if the entire top of the TV stand was black like the 50" TV stand as the shelves of the audio stand are all black (on the 70" model the center section of the top is black but the sides are cherry). Otherwise this is an excellent looking and very sturdy unit.
Nice as described arrived on time easy to put together.
My only suggestion would be to make sure you have a drill of some kind!
My hands were raw using a regular screw driver because I couldn't find the bits for my drill!
So it went fairly qiuck an well until I got to the door hinges that game me hell with that screwdriver.
But all in all nice tv stand I like it!
This is the kind of item that you should never purchase online. I just learned that lesson the hard way.

This item is very poorly made. Many of the screws did not fit into the holes so I had to use a power drill to widen them. Also, several of the pieces did not line up properly.

Do not waste your hard earned money on this flimsy Chinese junk.
Buying this type of furniture online is always a risk. I read a bunch of reviews stating that they receive their units with damage. The damage its done with all the transport and there is nothing we can do as customers. I will be honest and say that the furniture is nice. I received mine in good condition. Assembly took 3 hours since i took my time to do everything right. On the manual there is a couple of errors but nothing impossible to figure it out. I have a 65 inch tv that fits perfect on this unit.
This is a good product for the price, but I have to mark it down for three reasons:

1) The particle board stripped the very first time I screwed in a metal riser.
2) Half of the vertical particle board slats do not use dowels for alignment (the other half do) and this makes it easy to have a misaligned screw that causes a bulge in the slat.
3) The black shelves all had slight damage at the edges.

The good news is that the stripped particle board is easily repaired with a good wood glue and clamp. In addition, the bulges in the slats and the damaged shelves aren't visible unless you are really looking closely at them.

I'm not sure how long this product is going to last, but I bought it because there wasn't a good selection of stands for my 55" Samsung KS8000. I didn't like any stand available at any price. So, I cheaped out until something comes along that I like. If you're in the same boat, then this is definitely an excellent choice for a temporary solution. It may be a good choice for the long term too, but it's hard to tell given the questionable quality of the particle board.

I almost gave this four stars, but you know what? Any product that requires immediate fixing with wood glue can't get more than three stars. Sorry. It is an attractive stand at normal viewing distances.
Although it takes a while to assemble it seems worth it - only had it for a few days but it I useful for storage and holds a lot of consoles and a heavy tv. Nice design and surprisingly clean when it comes to hiding wires.
The stand when assembled is as described. The difficulty was mounting the doors after the unit was assembled. The instructions should be changed to mount the doors on the outside panels before assembling the unit. The doors can be easily adjusted after the unit is assembled.
Very good TV stand. For the price, I wasn't expecting it to be so good.
It is a beautiful piece of furniture. The picture doesn't show how good it looks in person. It is bigger than what I was expecting, but I think it looks great in any ambient. I had it in my room and now it's in my living room and it looks great in both!
It is very solid, was easy to mount (did it alone) and holds my 50" TV really well. Is very stable.
I found that it was a very sturdy and nice tv stand and a lot bigger than it seems just looking at the picture but it can hold up to "50 inch tv's. The only thing is that if you plan on buying it make sure you have help to carry it into your home unless you can hold 50lbs worth of furniture in a box. I really struggled with that and luckily my neighbor came to the rescue. Also the round cylinders cannot be tightened too tight or it will break into the wood and that may risk the unit becoming useless so be careful putting it together.
Never ordered furniture online before. Delivery was quick, every piece was intact.
Once assembled TV stand looks great and fit my 65 inch TV, sound bar and blu-ray player just fine.
It took 2 men and 2.5 hours to assemble this TV stand. Highly recommended product!
Took awhile to assemble and I made a modification that worked really well. I needed a spot for my center channel speaker so I took out the middle black piece. As you can see it is structurally sound. Perfect fit for a 55” TV.
Weighs quite a bit and looks stable, good for TVs up to 49 inches. Surface gets scratched very easily so one should be careful while assembling. Back panel and front door hinges require a drill. Better to install hinges on the side panels before you finalize the frame assembly
Nice TV stand. Assembly was easy with clear instructions. Finition is so-so though. Very easy to scratch the corners or the sides of the panels. I am looking for a touch up pen or paste to hide the damages. I had to replace one door which was badly 'pressed' and the company sent me a new one within days.
Very sturdy easily assembled, only problem in the packaging was an invoice mistakenly left in that read $73.00, that means in the States it could be purchased for $73.00. Even allowing for exchange rate its cheaper in the States.
My Tv stand came in today, I assembled it within 30 mins the instructions are really easy to follow , don’t forget to look at the picture instructions carefully because it doesn’t instruct you to use the wood pegs , it just shows you in the picture , the quality it good it’s fairly heavy lots of space overall a great buy
As advertised, easy to assemble and fits the space intended it for well. It looks good, but don't look too hard as you will be able tell what it is. For a small space and for the price amazing.

r the price...Amazing
Nice looking piece. Took less than an hour to assemble. No way it would fit a 55" tv though, our 43" tv took up almost the whole top. Measures and remeasured to make sure it would fit exactly in the spot I wanted it for... it is way smaller than the measurements listed, but we made it work. All in all its a nice looking addition.
Did the job ..barely. Quality is not that great...had to replace the top shelf (ended up getting a totally new unit) due to visible damage from the front.. However the new top shelf also has "warped" areas except not that noticeable.

Then again you get what you pay for....
I actually really like this. Yes, there are a few parts to it to put together, but I enjoy doing that anyways. It's way better than what I had before and I think it fits great!
It’s sturdy, classy and well machined and I really do love it - I just had to enlist the help of a friend that actually knows how to build stuff ;-)
