Our chair was delivered yesterday. Today I unpacked and assembled it. Here are my notes -
1. The size and appearance of the chair is as seen online.
2. Assembly was very easy - you just need to screw in the 4 wooden legs
3. Our piece came with 3 cracks in the frame of the chair. I will upload photos.
4. 3 legs screwed in properly, but the front-left one will not fit at the correct angle. I tried with all 4 pieces, none of them fit at the correct angle in this location. It's probably a defect in the angle of the threaded hole which has been used. See uploaded photo.
I am not sure how the cracks will affect the strength / life of this chair.
Plus I cannot have that 1 leg being at the wrong angle - doesn't look good plus not sure about stability.
I will be returning this piece.
I received this three weeks ago, and I am still happy with my couch. I received it in the teal color, so since is hard to find any pictures of this couch in teal, here you go! It does have firmer cushions as stated in other reviews, but I think it's still comfortable and you can break it in the more you use it. When you move around on the couch, it doesn't make any noise at all, you don't sink into the cushions, and you don't rip at your legs like when you wear shorts on a leather couch. The quality is amazing, and even comes in a big couch bag in its packaging. When delivered, it is 100 pounds so be sure to have a friend! Delivery only took a week.
Loved it! Don't listen to the bad reviews, it is what it is. People are so annoying... If you are looking for a $5,000 sofa this is not that but it is a great piece of furniture. Exactly the style I was looking for and if you read your measurements provided you will know if it will fit in your space or not. I am in Florida so the comments of it being a light piece of furniture did not bother me. Again if you were more from the East Coast or some place like that and you are looking for that heavy furniture then this may or may not be for you but because of the Oatmeal Tweed I ordered it is a yummy fabric, very cozy. Also some people commented on a weight limit situation. Ummm...people there is a support post in the middle of the sofa?? Is anybody ever happy or do they just like to go online to complain about anything? At least let it be truthful. Who puts a support post underneath there sofa, I have had lots of sofas in my life and this is my first to do that so it was a pleasant surprise after I was a little nervous from reading some of the negative reviews. I am so glad I went for it and ordered two of them anyways. Yes they are a little stiff but you can tell that the fabric, at least the Oatmeal Tweed does, has give to it so it is like a new mattress, just give it time to break in a little. I would definitely recommend anyone looking for mid-century mod on a budget to go for it I think you will be happy.
I ordered the gray sofa. It is a medium gray - not dark charcoal, not light gray. I can see no blue tones to it, although some reviewers have said they see blue undertones. I put a dark gray ottoman next to it and they both look simply gray.
It was delivered fully packaged in a cardboard box. The sofa was well protected by both rubbery-foam padding on the wooden parts and a huge off-white drawstring slipcover on the entire fabric part. The legs were in a little compartment built into the sofa's underside.
I assembled it in less than 10 minutes with no special tools. Everything you need is included.
As a side note, I am saving the slipcover to use when the cat is home alone. It's not waterproof, but it does protect from excess cat hair, and I've already washed it once so I know it stands up to a washing.
The cushions are very, very firm. Some people have complained about this, but I love it. As you know, cushions only get softer and flatter with time, so I'm very glad this sofa will take a long time to sag where my husband sits every night.
The sofa's fabric is soft to the touch. Not soft as in crushed velvet or faux suede, but soft as in an often-washed pair of fine quality jeans. The fabric is smooth and doesn't stick out in any way to catch on anything, which I appreciate.
It is a clean design, very long, and very comfortable once I put my legs up on an ottoman for the night.
I give it absolutely 5 stars.
I actually purchased two love seats and a sofa just over a year ago. I purchased them for the look-I'd been looking for this style for years. They arrived fine, and were easy to put together. Unfortunately the cushions are finished only on one side so you can't flip them. After one year the sofa cushions are sagging and the front seam weeping. They look awful. I contacted Modway-they politely declined to sell me new cushions and directed me to an independent outdoor furniture company to try and match new cushions. Not the look I was going for our living room. In contrast the sofa I owned before this was purchased over 20 years ago from Dania, survived two kids and 3 Labrador retrievers, and still looked fine when I replaced with this Modway set (I was just tired of looking at it!). Now? I'm going to have mismatched furniture a little over one year after specifically purchasing a furniture set so it WOULDN'T be mismatched. In hindsight I regret taking a risk with online furniture. I'm going back to Dania. What a headache. If you are considering these couches? BEWARE. If you use them they won't last.
Delivery: First of all, that was the fastest sofa delivery ever - I was promised 2 weeks delivery but was able to reschedule directly with the delivery company for a week only! The only complaint here and half of the star off is that the driver came alone to transport 100lb sofa to the 10th floor. How is that even possible? I had to run around and to look for anyone who could help him.
Packaging: Well done, sofa was protected with an extra cover, the legs were in the special pocket under the sofa.
Quality of the sofa: A bit firmer than I expected but still very comfortable to sit on. The seat is higher than my previous sofa but I like it more - goes well with my new table. And the color "laguna" is beautiful although different from the picture, darker into blue than green
I bought this chair a year ago. I do really like it but keep in mind, it is large and it is firm to sit on. The cushion and the linen like fabric has maintained its shape, quality, and firmness after a year, and the luscious colour is just as glorious today as a year ago. It was easy to put the legs on - but, like one other reviewer remarked, the hole drilled on the front left side of the chair is off kilter and is stripped or something because the leg will not screw into it at a proper angle and now the leg keeps falling off. I'm going to just glue it in place. Also, when I first unpacked the chair there were some sharp upholstery staples sticking out on the side - watch out for that. I used pliers to pull them out and that was fine. I love the style and colour especially for the price. But because of the ill-fitting leg, I couldn't give it more than 3 stars.
I've seen this same couch go for $2G, so if you see it for less get it. Yes, the cushions are hard but also hardy. I've fallen asleep on it more times on it than I can count, and it's never been too hard. Very happy with this purchase.
Exactly what I was looking for. Well built. Easy to assemble. Trendy.
Though the delivery estimate was way off, the sofa was worth the wait.
Love this chair. Looks even better than depocted.
