The shelf is NOT solid wood I know, it’s like made of vinyl veneer covered MDF board - seller is pretty honest on clarifying this. BUT it looks exactly like real walnut wood. Laminate is very well done that no one would know it’s not real wood unless they come very close to verify the material.
The package came heavy and needed 2 people to lift upstairs, yet once finished assembly, it’s sturdy and looks very nice in our room where furniture are all dark espresso color. It matches the retro tone very well. The metal frame is well finished with extra screws to bolt into wall. There’s a metal bar under each shelf, which prevents the boards from being chipped under overloaded heavy things, which I personally like because I didn’t see such reinforced design much on the market.
Let me tell why I finally give up buying a solid wood shelf and choose chipboard or MDF board whatsoever as an alternative. Well I initially have 2 wood cabinets and both bent heavily that I can’t completely close the doors. One wood chair cracked under southern sunlight exposure. I paid $300 - $500 per piece, but after 2 years, I still need to pay more money and time to repair the furniture.
So unless you are very obsessed to high quality solid wood, and if actually you are only searching for something stylish, affordable, yet still strong enough to organize or show off your stuff, pick this one. It only costs half price or less but looks expensive with vivid wood grain veneer and high sturdiness. Very easy to clean and most importantly, save trouble to do maintenance as artificial boards will not expand and contract in the heat and humidity, thus have less chance to deform or crack.
This book shelf is absolutely not the first-class brand type, but for the price and quality I think it worth every penny.
I bought the 3 shelves a few weeks ago and loved it. Easy to assemble and though it’s made of MDF board, the shelves are highly like solid wood. The color is much darker in real, a deep espresso color nearly like black. It is looking different due to my yellow lights. Price is fair and design is simple and minimalistic. Definitely recommend this product. Assembling it took me about 30 mins doing it properly. Just read the manual so you don't screw. I did not assemble the two rods behind as I wanted to fit my huge speaker.
Very good product. It should last for 4-5 years.
I recently got a dark brown l-shapped desk and wanted shelves that matched. I needed something that held more that 30lbs per shelf. This was just right. I ended up getting the 3-tier, the 4-tier, and the 5-tier. Couldn't be happier. They were super easy to put together and are incredibly sturdy, without the wall anchor. I like that the feet are adjustable.
Loving this bookshelf! Finally a strong well built bookshelf that will last. Was pleasantly surprised how sturdy and stable this bookshelf is, which was exactly what I was looking for. Another cool thing I noticed is that it can also be used for more kitchen storage space or in the office (printer fits perfectly!) they did a really good job with the design so it can really fit as a multi use shelf. Everything considered, I definitely recommend this bookshelf, I think anyone would be more than pleased with everything it has to offer.
I love the color. I was looking for an open shelving concept for my dining room. However, didn't want to spend thousands or have the time to make my own. So, I bought two of the large ones and stuck them side by side. They aren't perfectly together but someone would have to be pretty close to notice. They of course aren't as steady as if I would have made them but I feel comfortable with dishes on it and 4 kids running around this house.
This is perfect for our teenager’s room. It’s easy to assemble and non intrusive. Fits any room, and adds elegant shelving. Great quality and design.
This is a great bookshelf. Easy to assemble and looks very nice in our living room. You can’t even tell that it isn’t a pricey piece. Very satisfied and will most likely buy another
REALLY great shelving unit. Looks more expensive than it is. Heavy shelves. Would be easiest to put together with two people, but I did it myself no problem.
