I was somewhat nervous about buying a couch online, but trusted that Amazon’s fantastic customer service would help if anything went wrong.
The couch was delivered on time by a professional delivery company contracted by Amazon. They were polite and it was overall, a stress free situation.
The couch arrived wrapped in a big cardboard box and inside, a very thick plastic wrapper with cardboard protectors on the couch’s feet. While very well wrapped, it was also easy to unwrap with just scissors to cut the plastic. The couch came assembled in one piece.
The couch is very comfortable and attractive. It’s higher and deeper than most couches and this is what I wanted. The upholstery is good for the price. Before I bough the couch, I ordered a fabric swatch and poured coffee and wine on it to test durability and cleaning ease. Everything came out with enough cleaning, so I think the fabric will wear well even though the color is light (Stone).
Overall, I am very happy with this couch and I would order another piece of large furniture from Amazon without hesitation.
This is a very nice sofa. We bought the loveseat, too. We have owned them now for 3 months. The fabric is soft, durable, and stain proof! We’ve already had wine (me), ketchup (husband), dirt (dog), and milk (baby) spilled on it... I just used a wet paper towel each time to clean it - and all came right out with zero residual staining. The stitching is well done. It is overall a very nice looking sofa, and our friends have mistaken it for furniture from Pttry Brn. My husband and I are tall, so the 21” seat height is ideal. The sofa is very comfortable; my husband likes to take naps on it. We purchased the Dalton sofa and loveseat in “sand” color, which is an off-white/neutral color (as the “stone” color is more of a light gray based on the swatch). I generally turn and rotate the cushions once/week, and I love that back cushions are detached. I’ve never purchased furniture online; however, I’m glad I did this time. As far as furniture delivery, the sofa and loveseat were already assembled inside large moving boxes; they brought them into our living room and simply removed the box. (For reference, the throw pillows shown in the photo are 20” squares.)
I waited for a couple of months o write this review... just to make sure that everything was going well... At first I thought this thing was going to be terrible. Although it seemed well built, It was too stiff. The fabric is nice and soft. It seems pretty sturdy and well built, but just not comfortable. Well... after a bit of time, it has become quite comfortable. The best 800 couch on which I haver every sat or napped for that matter.
This chair is great, and exactly what I have been looking for! A chair that you can sink into, curl up in, and read a book. It is high quality in fabric, cut, and stitching. Overall, this exceeded my expectations.
Update after a couple weeks:
Still definitely comfortable to sit on, but now the sofa cushions are breaking in and looking super lumpy. These sofas are nearly brand new and I would expect them to hold their shape a bit better for being less than two weeks old. I’m docking two stars because I seriously doubt they’ll hold up over time. Temporary furniture at best. Oh well, I guess you get what you pay for... I added a pic of the lumpiness.
Initial review:
I was a bit nervous buying a sofa online without test-sitting first, but after only a few days with these sofas I am so happy with this purchase. The sofas I really wanted and am comparing these to were from the PB comfort line, but those are super pricey and take at least a couple months to be upholstered and delivered. We were on a tighter time frame than that to have our home furnished and took a risk on these, which we could luckily get in about a week and a half or maybe two weeks. Much better than 12 weeks! And we saved a ton of money, also.
My biggest concerns with these were that the fabric color would not appear as it did in the photos online, and that the square arms would not be appropriately padded. Even at some high end furniture stores, the square arm sofas are not great if you want to stretch out and put your head on the arm and take a snooze. If you miss a throw pillow, you’ll end up with a concussion! But I figured for this price, if I wound up with those sharp arms I’d just deal with it and get a few extra throw pillows. Well, I’m so happy to share that the arms on the dalton sofas are super padded and comfy, while also styled with the nice clean lined square shape I was looking for.
The fabric is very soft to the touch, and a finer weave (not a chunky weave) so it doesn’t appear likely to pill or snag easily. This has yet to be tested because we’ve just gotten the sofas, but at first glance it seems to be family friendly. We have dogs and kids so a performance fabric was important. I think the fabric is all poly, which should not stain easily. I got the sofas in the stone color, which in person is a light true-neutral gray that I think could work with both warmer or cooler decor. The sofas matched the swatch pretty closely although once I got them in the room the color appeared slightly lighter than I expected (which I’m happy about).
The seat cushions are definitely on the lofty side, but I think they will break in nicely once we spend some more time sitting or napping on the sofas. They did have that new smell for the first couple of days but have already off gassed enough that it isn’t overly noticeable. They also are heavy sofas- not too heavy to lift or move, but sturdy enough that they are not sliding around at all on my tile floors. We do not yet have a rug, and I would assume on carpet or a rug they’d be even less likely to slide.
Overall I’d say this was a great purchase, high quality comfortable sofas, with a speedy delivery time frame!
The couch appears to be of good quality and durable, but only time and use will tell. It is comfortable and aesthetically pleasing in my living room next to my large windows. My only complaints are: 1) the color does not match my Stone & Beam large chaise and ottomon that have the same color name, and 2) when I first received the couch and took it out of the plastic covering it emitted a strong "chemical" smell. I figured this was expected being that it probably came from a warehouse and it just needed to air out. A month+ later the couch still has the same smell albeit less pungent. It's noticeable enough for visiting company to smell it and make a comment (super embarrassing as a host). That is the only reason I am not giving this an overall rating of 5 stars. I
am hoping baking soda, fabreeze, and/or dryer sheets will help with the smell. If it doesn't I will have to request a replacement. It's really a shame because it is a beautiful piece of furniture.
