We have an older model Sleep Number mattress and the pump died a few years ago. Over time, the mattresses gradually began to lose air and our backs/joints began to really feel it. Checked with the Sleep Number company to find that the pump was so old it was no longer supported. We were faced with either an expensive upgrade or investing $$$$$ in a traditional mattress. My wife was searching for Sleep Number pumps on Amazon when Silverfish came up. We looked it over, read the reviews and decided to take a chance on a (relatively) inexpensive solution. Just hooked it up and so far - it works GREAT!!! Fingers crossed that it lasts for years to come!
(My only caveat is the 'instructions', which are pretty bare-boned. They refer to the inside diameter of the tubing [3/8 vs 1/2] which, of course, can only be measured by disconnecting the tubing. We ran the risk of our mattresses going flat if they were the wrong size. Fortunately for us, they were the correct size. A visual diagram of determining tube sizes would have been helpful/appreciated.)
When my Sleep Number bed's air pump quit working, I was afraid I'd have to buy a whole new mattress...tried Sleep Number website to see about just replacing the pump....long story short, maybe that could be done, but you have to call to find out anything. So, I turned to Amazon & found this pump. For $200, (& knowing I could return it if it didn't work) I thought "WTH, let's try it". I'm happy to say, it was an easy change out. I did have a slight problem, but customer service for this company is AWESOME!!!! They quickly helped figure things out & corrected! I highly recommend this product & this company!!!!!!
The controls to our old sleep number bed (which is now in our guest room) died after many years of use. Sleep number didn’t support it anymore and this system worked well. You need some tools and mechanical aptitude, but it should be quite doable for most. Hint: Use a hair dryer to heat up the connection of the plastic hose to make it slip together much easier
I have two ‘Sleep Better’ brand adjustable air mattresses, one of which just lost the pump. I took a chance on this pump for a replacement since the connectors were the same as on my old one. I will be looking for an adaptor for the connection since the air hoses from the bed have a screw tightening connection and the new pump has a quick release, but even with the connection unsecured the pump filled the mattresses quietly and quickly. Very nice having a replacement so quickly and better than the old one.
While it did take longer then the 2 days to get it by Amazon standards, we are very pleased with the replacement pump system for our King size Comfortaire bed. Our bed is roughly about 10 or so yrs old and our mattress is made of 2 single air mattresses which this pump works just fine. The only problem we had was that the hose that comes from our mattresses was just barely too big in diameter to fit the end couplers. My husband was able to shave just enough of the thick hose at the end that was needed to make the fit. Once we got the ends on it was smooth pumping. Got it all connected, air in mattresses and each side then adjusted to each of our comfort. It is now nice to go to bed and not have to contend with a floppy bed due to air loss.
This is an outstanding replacement pump for air beds. I have a 15 year old Nautilus bed and the pump finally failed. I researched options and settled on REM Air System as the best bet. The Nautilus bed is an older design that used a noise fan based pump that had a fill tube and a small secondary pressure sensor tube for each of the two chambers (King bed). All I had to do to connect the REM pump was block the small pressure sensor tube, which was accomplished by pushing a common metal nail into the tube which provided a very tight fit....simple. The fill tube on the Nautilus bed is a 3/8" ID but has a very thick wall making the OD rather large and the tub is too short to reach the REM pump on our floor. This is because the Nautilus pump was housed in the top bolster near the head of the user rather than on the floor. This was easily solved by using a 3/8" to 3/8" tubing male coupler and a new section of 3/8" tubing, all stuff you can get at any good home supply store. Extend both tubes to reach location of pump, attach the compression fittings supplied with the REM pump, connect controls, plug and in a problem solved. I really like the fact that REM uses a well isolated vibration pump and sits on the floor. I was inflating the first chamber when my wife came in the room and she asked if I was going to pump it up now...it was being pumped up and she didn't even notice it. Much nicer controller than the original old Nautilus one, including pressure reading and memory setting. I've only had it for a day so far but was impressed enough to take the time to write this review as I strongly suggest this product as a solution to a failed pump you may have.
Our existing bed is neither Sleep Number nor Select Comfort, but installation was still easy (simply cut off the existing connector on the hose and attach the new connector) because the hose is the same size. So far we've been pleased with the pump. It's much quieter than the old pump (no problem running the pump while someone is asleep), and the display is easy to read. The documentation is terse and could use improvement (it was unclear that to check the current pressure, it requires pressing the button twice, once to turn on the display, and a second time to actually check the pressure). Operation of the pump is straightforward (one button to set the desired pressure level, one button to check the current pressure level, one button to adjust the pressure to the preset level, one button to inflate, and one button to deflate). There are no extra modes (such as automatically maintaining the pressure level over time). the seller was easy to work with and responded to my query in less than 15 minutes.
