Waterproof. Didn't need inserts that were recommended. I wear an 8.5 wide and I bought a 9 and inserts. Fit better without. HOWEVER, I will need to wear knee high socks with these, because I wore crew socks and shorts with them to walk in the rain, (About one mile on sidewalk) and following photos show what they did to me. Tops are rough and sharp. What I have feels like a rug burn, and I don't have particularly large legs. I got the redness on both legs, both sides, and the pictures show what they look like two days after wearing.

I have a pair of Sloggers boots that I love (so comfortable & well made) so I decided to order them in a different pattern. I read a few of the reviews about irritation and skin injury from the top of the boot, but knew mine were fine so I ordered this midsummer blue pair. Now I understand why these new ones can cause that problem. There's no fabric on the top edge and the texture is somewhat rough. I contacted Sloggers customer service to express my concern and the customer service representative said the newer boots have the fabric on them & not all the older ones do. I know this isn't correct because my old ones do & these don't! I'm keeping this pair because I love the print and hopefully they won't cause a problem, but wanted to make others aware of it.

I wish I could give this product a better review, but I just can't. I ordered my first pair from this company in a cute blue floral pattern in a size 10. When they arrived, they were red and in a size 7.5. No paperwork was in the box. Only the boots in a plastic bag. I went back to my order to double check that I had not confused anything, and it was as I thought...I had ordered a size 10 in blue floral. So I had to repackage them and return them. Because their boots really do come in cute patterns and prints, I decided to give it one more try because these are supposed to be a gift that I think the recipient would really have liked. Shame on me for a second try...They were now showing that they were out of the style I had previously ordered so I ordered another pair in a red paisley print, again in a size 10. This time the boots that arrived were the correct style, BUT in a size 9. I give up. I would recommend that you be aware of this carelessness before you order from this company no matter how cute the boots appear.

Don't wear these without socks! They are super comedy initially but if you wear them around for a few hours, they will wear a hole in your inner calf
