I will preface this review by saying that this is a ~$300 futon. If you're expecting top quality custom furniture comfort and durability, you will be more than disappointed.
I purchased this for my loft/office. I have a small entertainment center for my turntable, speakers, and record collection, but no seating aside from at my desk, or at my music area. I wanted a small sofa or futon that I could easily climb up a ladder with (access to my loft is via a ladder, no stairs) and sleep on if I was working, and needed a small space to go and take a quick nap. This seemed to hit all of the requirements for me, so I bought it.
PROS
It's relatively lightweight, so moving it around isn't a challenge at all. If you need to relocate it somewhere else in your house, it will not break your back to do so.
It's incredibly easy to assemble. I was under the impression that I would have to fully assemble this futon, but it's basically all ready to go, save for the legs and armrests, and then attaching each half to each other. Setup time is roughly 10 minutes.
For what it is, it's pretty comfortable, and it's a decent enough size. I'm 5'9", and 215 lbs, and this works just fine for me. Laying down requires a tiny bit more room, but the armrests come off incredibly easy, so if you need to make a bit more space, it's no problem.
CONS
I'm not convinced that this will last even 5 years. The seat cushions are comfortable enough, but they're hollow, so parts for assembly can be stored. This doesn't leave a lot of support for sitting or laying down, and over time, I have a feeling the cushions will get worn down significantly.
The width could be a bit more generous. It's supposedly 69" wide between the armrests, but why not make it a round 70", or maybe even 72"? I feel like that would add more comfort, and more value to the product.
This was shipped in two separate boxes, which arrived at my house on completely different days, so that was a bit confusing. I was under the impression that I had only ordered half a futon for a little bit.
VERDICT
For what it is, it's a great value. It's comfortable enough, large enough, it looks good, and it gets the job done. For the money, it can't be beat, and it earns all five stars. If this was $600 or more, I would have much stronger opinions about the cons, but for around $300, this is better than what I would expect, and most likely more well built than others that I've seen on Amazon for around the same price. Well worth the money.
The littlest room in our attic apartment needed a makeover. This fitted under the steep eave. I loved the simple lines and the color.
Two boxes, very heavy and assembly not bad. But two people are needed, for carrying the big boxes and for safety while the pieces go together. The two-part couch back folds down to make a bed, easily, with no pulling or lifting. Lots of audible clicking and grinding, at least at first. Also has a middle setting, for reclining. Very versatile in a small space.
We find this purchase to be an attractive and comfortable couch. It's roomy for a loveseat. Two adults and five cats all fit. We spent some evenings watching TV from it. Pleased with the build quality.
I've been leaving it open for use as a daybed. The arms hold up bolsters at either end. Room for cats and devices, and a pet cover to keep the upholstery nice, especially since I'm using it most days. And have been known to spill coffee, myself.
The velvet surface is smooth and suede-like, and a lovely color. At different angles, lighting, especially with photography, the back, seat, and arms can all look different shades. It might be as simple as the sheen facing different directions, or this is the nature of this color on this fabric.
Off a star for how the fabric retains impressions, and how the back cushions are not a smooth and quiet mechanism. Happy with this purchase, and since I'm not converting it every day, I expect it might last longer as a result.
I love the color, that it was super simple to assemble, my sons who are 18 and 22 put it together in about 20 minutes. It’s small, but can fit 3 people on it. It’s not very comfortable, but I plan on adding some throw pillows. It fits well in my cozy apartment. It’s smooth and feels stable. This will be my started couch until I am able to buy a small sectional cloud couch. This was within my budget and looks are everything to me! I want to enjoy my space and I do.
Likes: Color, fabric, ease of lowering/lifting back, ease of assembly, quick delivery, storage underneath where you can put some sheets for guests.
Dislikes: Rock hard, small, plastic feet,
It's good for the price and as a renter with a dog in a small space.
This couch is great from r the price! We decided to turn our dining room into a sitting/reading room after our son flew the nest and we are here alone now. This couch is perfect! We needed something affordable and to fit the space. It lays back into a bed which is great when we have to leave our spoiled dogs home. Its “comfy”…comfy enough for a sitting room and definitely above average. The color is fabulous and it was incredibly easy to put together-took me 15 mins. I would buy this couch again no doubt and we are picky ppl. Would i use it for my main living area…maybe not. But if this was in the budget, yes. Its so cute.
