I was having trouble using my old can opener; had to go around the lids a couple times. I guess it was dull after so many years of use, and maybe it never worked as well as this one. It works so easily, a pleasure to use. Saves a little wear and tear on my arthritic old hands, too.

Initially, the handle was very difficult to turn. My wife hated the thing, and even I eventually had a hard time using it. Before tossing it in the trash, I decided to try lubricating the gears; not with WD40 but with something food-safe. I used a few drops of olive oil, but I suppose you could also use canola or vegetable oil. Problem solved! Now this can opener is unbelievably easy to use; like night and day. It instantly went from a one star to a five star product.
This reliable can opener is super sturdy and easy to use. It cuts smoothly and doesn’t leave rough edges on cans. The handles are comfortable, and it works well on all sizes of cans. A solid choice for anyone needing a dependable kitchen tool! ease of cleaning and very safe
After trying countless inexpensive can openers (and ultimately discarding them when they wear out), I decided to do some internet research and settled on this KitchenAid can opener. It's a dream. Solid. Opens cans. Doesn't NOT open cans... which wasn't the case for the cheap openers I've had in the past.
Everything feels solid. I've been using it a few weeks. Will it remain effective years down the road? That remains to be seen. But for now, I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Recommend.
Update: Keep your can opener oiled. I added some oil to the gears, and it works just fine, now.
It worked decently for about 6 months of light use. Easy to figure out. After about 6 months it became more dull and began to rust and squeak. You can see that even without a can the knob is hard to turn. It is hard for me to open one can without a sore wrist, and I am a decently strong mother of young kids. None of my kids can open a can with it. I had a pretty good can opener in the past by Martha Stewart that lasted about 6 years. I'll see if I can find that one again.
I purchased a Swing-a-Way can opener about a year ago, thinking it would be as good as the old worn out one. Wrong- it was awful from the beginning. Had to get another one and purchased this KitchenAid. It works just like they are supposed to and I am very happy with it.
Manual can openers are so much better than the electric ones! And this one is sturdy, but not too heavy. It replaced a cheaper, lighter weight one that we had used for over 20 years and finally needed a new one. I expect this one to last equally well.
The KitchenAid Classic Multifunction Can Opener in Aqua Sky is not only a visually appealing addition to my kitchen but also an incredibly reliable tool. The color is a beautiful, soft aqua that adds a pop of freshness to my kitchen decor.
Functionality-wise, this can opener is a standout. It cuts through cans effortlessly, with smooth, even rotations that don’t require excessive force. The handles are comfortable to grip, and the overall build feels sturdy and durable, which is what I expect from a trusted brand like KitchenAid.
The added bottle opener is a convenient bonus, making this tool a true multitasker in the kitchen. Whether I’m opening a can of tomatoes or a bottle of soda, it handles both tasks with ease.
Cleaning is also a breeze—just a quick rinse or wipe down, and it’s good to go. The size is just right, not too bulky, so it fits neatly in my kitchen drawer without taking up too much space.
Overall, this is a high-quality, stylish can opener that gets the job done efficiently and looks great doing it. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable kitchen tool with a touch of flair!
