I used this on my instant pot (6qt) inner pot to drain my ground beef for chili today. It worked great! At first, I was afraid that the clips wouldn’t fit on the lip of the inner pot insert, but after I worked with them a little bit, they worked and it drained the grease right into a tin can. Draining ground beef fat is always a nightmare….making sure that I hold it just right to get the grease to go in the can, but not to dump the ground beef into the sink. I’m so glad I took the chance on this thing, because I think it’s going to solve a lot of problems.
It’s a wonderful tool in theory, but in use this strainer is a bit difficult.
The problem is the clamps that attach the strainer to any pot. They have an appropriately strong clamping action—which is good—but they barely open, making the strainer difficult to attach, which is quite bad. Remember that you’ll be applying the strainer to a hot pot. Yikes!
Time will tell how problematic this will be. I’ll update this review as I become more or less proficient with this device.
I think this is a great invention as it reduces the number of utensils needed. I use it mainly for pasta and it works perfectly but I do have to use a little extra "oomph" squeezing the clips to open them, to put the strainer on the pan. I'm in my 70s so it might be my age, though I don't think of myself as particularly weak ; )
This works great! I used it for frozen gnocchi and it held up just fine when draining the water. This is perfect when you don't want to wash a colander and you aren't cooking a super huge amount. It takes a little effort to push the clip into the side of the pan but that's expected - it needs to hold firm when draining water. Very easy to detach and wash. So glad I purchase this, worth every penny!
There isn't anything wrong with the product; I just think a little more care when sending an item like this out to a customer is important. This was going to be a Christmas gift; however, you will see from the picture that the box was received damaged. The bag it was shipped in is flimsy and just the plain bag from USPS. Now I have to find a different box for this item to wrap and gift out.
When I'm just making pasta, this is a great option to quickly drain the pasta without having to use a bigger strainer. This is easier to store than a normal sized colander which helps if you're short on space. But for some dishes that require the noodles to be cold, this is not very compatible. With some determination you could fill up the pot multiple times with cold water and drain it out again, but you'd have to both cool down the noodles and the pot before you're done. Also I cook thin noodles sometimes, and they escape through the holes of the strainer because they're a little wide. But overall it is a great space-saver and works okay.
I LOVE this little thing! I was shopping for something else and this popped up. I cook with pasta, beans, and veggies a lot, and all need to be drained. I hate washing big colanders over and over, and this completely solves the problem! You have to put a little elbow grease into putting it on pots but once you get the hang of it, it fits most any pot you'll use unless you're cooking large vats. Don't think twice, get this little gem.
It isn't as fast as dumping a pot of pasta into a regular colander but worth not having one more bulky thing to wash. Snaps on easily and takes far less room in the dishwasher. Very strong and sturdy. I purchased four planning to give three as Christmas gifts.

tried this on a 2 liter pot with noodles and it worked perfectly.... and easier than the lid and two handing it, with no escaped noodles

I liked that it worked the way I wanted it to work.
