Great product helping so much!
I'm sorry that it took this long to write about a great product. We were thoroughly pleased with it. We kept it on for 2 years because we were too lazy to take it off after18 months -- and the color (identified at the time as "gold") made it very, very acceptable. I just saw that there is a product that is a little less expensive, but comes in white only. I would not have wanted a white couch in my living room -- particularly for an 18-month period.
The zipper was perfect; the size was more than generous; the instructions were clear.
Of course there was a problem with comfort -- that the fabric is slippery. But I could not see how that could be solved given the nature of an infestation. That slipping, I could live with.
In light of the the remedies available during an infestation, it was the very best of solutions, and a high-quality product that I recommend highly.
I noticed a difference immediately. I have had no trouble with the zipper at all. I put it on in such a way that the Zipper is down toward the bottom in the front so there is no stress on it. I tried to duct tape over the zipper line when I first bought it (the way people were recommending) but the duct tape would not stick. This is a very great sign because that means it is slippery enough that the bugs cannot crawl up this cover. I have had absolutely no problems except that it is hard to get sheets to stay on it, and we must "sleep tight" not letting anything they can crawl up touch the floor. I have good luck with flannel or fleece and then a sheet over the top of that (those materials seem to stay put, and I use my sofa for sleeping). I am so glad that a product like this was invented and mine will stay on for at least a year. It has been such a fantastic help. I am also using Bedlam spray, which a friend told me that professionals used in his apartment, and it is awesome. I also sprinkle diatomaceous earth all around the edges of my floor. In a situation like this you do everything that you think will help. They are absolutely under control and I will continue being vigilant for one year
For anyone going through the misery of bedbugs, I highly recommend this sofa cover encasement! My elderly mother lives in a senior housing complex and to our horror, we discovered that she had bedbugs. Getting rid of them has been a big battle. The last hiding place for them has been her sofa which she frequently naps on. It is a very nice leather sofa and it would have broken her heart to have it hauled away and destroyed, but that was our only option, or so we thought. Even if we had gotten rid of it and purchased a brand new one, there would always be the possibility of just one little bugger finding its way back to re-infest it all over again!
So, I was thrilled to find this product! It wasn't cheap, but it was considerably less expensive than having the old one removed and buying a new one. And okay, it probably isn't the exact color that I would have picked, but I guess it is neutral enough. And, it is a little big, but I was glad it was big enough to make it easy to get it on. Its not a super thick material, but its much more comfortable than vinyl and with a little caution (no problem for my mother)it should last for a long time. Finally, it zipped up nice and secure so that my mom can now "Sleep tight and not....." Well, you know the rest.
This cover gets the job done! Apartment living is not easy and it gets worse when you have a bedbug scare. We bought this for our couch in order to save ourselves the trouble of buying a new couch/ throwing away a couch that is less than two years old. We HAD bedbugs in the couch so naturally we treated everything, including the couch and covered it with this cover. It's been about two weeks and not a bug in sight! This cover gets 4 stars instead of 5 because it has a zipper and in reality no zipper is bedbug proof. We covered the zipper with duct tape and have had no problems. On a design note it is quite big and ugly but we bought an elastic couch cover to hide it and tucked the bedbug cover into the black elastic cover and no one is the wiser. It simply looks like we covered our couch. Also, we have two cats and that was a concern considering that you can't risk having holes in the bedbug cover. The cats poked a hole or two in the bedbug cover before it was covered by a couch cover. We covered the holes with duct tape but note that it took a lot of force for them to be able to do that. So I'd say this cover is pretty sturdy and we're happy with it.
Purchased two of these after battling bedbugs for weeks. Did not contain them. Would not recommend.
I have had this encasement previously and was pretty happy. Although I did learn that if you have a sofa with reclining seats you must pad the railings on the bottom or the encasement will get damaged. My previous encasement got holes in it due to the steel metal constantly rubbing on the fabric. FYI: IF YOUR COUCH HAS STEEL RAILINGS ON THE BOTTOM YOU MUST USE SOME TYPE OF FELT PADS on the railings under the couch to protect the encasement from getting damaged on the bottom! Otherwise I am happy and feel protected.
Loved this sofa cover. Feels so good not to get bitten while sitting on my sofa. works so well. Easy to put on also. So happy this item exists. Thanks!
