I always wanted an English-style leather chesterfield sofa. Chesterfields were invented by the British and the point of their distinctive tufted backs was to prevent suits from wrinkling. To me, a Chesterfield screams English country house drawing room or study appointed with lots of dark wood, antique oriental rugs, and in which cigars and whiskey are taken by discerning gentlemen of refinement.

This sofa is a traditional leather Chesterfield, with some slight modern styling cues, such as the lighter colour and omission of any nailhead detailing. I wanted a traditional Chesterfield, but in retrospect, I appreciate the minor modernizations, a truly traditional one might not fit in as well with the rest of the furniture, unless the rest of your furniture is 19th century style furniture.

The FULL GRAIN leather is a delight: buttery soft but also thick and durable. Here's a quick and helpful explanatory blurb about leather furniture: most of the "leather" furniture on Amazon is faux leather junk; "bonded leather" is not leather, it is minced leather scraps mixed with polymers and glue and extruded into a sheet; and even what is called "genuine leather" is not real leather, it is the bottom half of a raw hide with a polyurethane grain-patterned film heat sealed on top. In both cases, what your skin touches is plastic, not leather, and they age terribly because the polyurethane flakes and chips. Only "top grain leather" and "full grain leather" are what a normal person would think of as real leather, as in leather made of 100% cowhide and 0% plastics, that develops patina over time and looks better with wear. Top grain is the top half of the hide; full grain is the entire hide; so the main difference is full grain is thicker and more robust so it will last longer.. The best you can usually find on Amazon is top grain, and as far as I know, this is the ONLY full-grain leather sofa on Amazon. Only full grain leather furniture develops the most excellent patina with age and wear, and I look forward to this Chesterfield growing more attractive as it ages. It seriously feels like a $5000 sofa, which is about what something comparable at Wayfair runs.

It is very comfortable. The interior webbing, I am told, is very high quality meaning it will be good for years with no sagging. My friend slept on it for a weekend with zero complaints as well, although I'd say that if he were taller than 5'7" it might not have been so comfortable, at 6' I can't fully extend my legs.

I got it with Amazon delivery service, and those bros (both in Metallica shirts for some reason) skillfully navigated it up two flights of stairs without a scratch on it. I am seriously so impressed. They were polite, worked very hard, refused a tip, and complimented a large painting I had on the wall as "very metal."

I condition the sofa with Leather Honey and Obenaufs, both work great and do not affect the color, as does Venetian Cream.

I have had the Chesterfield for about 4 months now, and I have zero complaints. I mean if I HAD to complain about something, it would be that the sofa is more comfortable to sit on with a pillow on the back for the lumbar, but that's really more of an observation than a criticism. It's not like it's uncomfortable to sit on without pillows.

Get this couch, you will not regret it. The judgment of Bill S. Preston, Esquire is that this Chesterfield is "Most Excellent."

I was unsure about ordering a couch online, and also unsure of ordering a leather couch with little kids. This couch however is amazing! It really is even better than I thought it could be. It is comfy, it is beautiful, it is well crafted. This couch is my dream couch! So pleased with this purchase.

Just got it this month. Stylish. It is firm. Dog nails do scratch it, but I figured they would. It seems well built, nice seams, so much nicer than a chair I bought to match from a different vendor. I would have loved a chair from Poly and Bark but have a budget... It would have made a nicer combo ...will update review if any issues or warnings.

This sofa came pretty much fully assembled. It is sturdy and high quality like all Poly & bark sofas. The color is a beautiful buckskin leather! Love it so much & my clients love it too!

#1 on a good day, this is a HARD sofa that I would not have purchased if I tested it in a showroom. Also. It’s almost like they ran out of padding and the upholstery is loose. Just CHEAP looking and feeling. Don't believe the great reviews, or the luxury description.

#2 the architectural straight lines were very appealing, except the particular sofa I received is crooked on one side, as shown in the photos, an defective upholstery issue.

#3 the sofa is large and had to come up two tight flights of stairs in my building. While Amazon promises delivery to the room of your choice, they clearly don’t promise pleasant customer service. The grumbling and tip begging began immediately from one of the delivery men. “You gonna TAKE CARE of us ain’t you??? I know you gonna ….” The other was quite pleasant but didn’t attempt to hush his surly companion.

#4. Due to the size of the sofa, it had to be unpacked before going up the stairwell. Due to the lack of skill and unprofessionalism of the delivery, the sofa wound up with numerous small scratches and abrasions to the leather. The last sofa I had was the same size and moved in without incident.

Unless you have a very easy entry and delivery access, I could never recommend ordering a large piece of furniture from Amazon. Dealing with this delivery, and imagining an equal or worse nightmare of returning or replacing it will likely convince me to just settle and realize my poor judgement in making this purchase. I regret every bit of it. A nightmare.

I had shopped this same sofa on the Poly and Bark website, but opted for the Amazon option because it was about $200 less. Perhaps it’s a “you get what you pay for” situation. But also, to be very clear, it is not a high quality piece in the first place. To believe the descriptions and reviews will easily convince you otherwise. I feel like I got a thrift store scratch and dent product for a showroom price.

We bought the sofa to match an older italian leather love seat. The color and texture of this sofa looks great. Best of all, the sofa is comfortable and has a nice wide, soft seating, which was a priority for us.
If its like our older love seat, it will hold wear and tear and look lovely, for years to come. Special thanks to the manufacturer for sending it fully assembled. The delivery man brought it into the livingroom and all we had to do was screw in the legs. Very happy with the service and pleasant delivery!
