Vivek Deluxe Wood Platform Bed Frame with Headboard / Wooden Slat Support / No Box Spring Needed / Easy Assembly, Queen

Read reviews that mention:

I was very hesitant to order this bed, for a lot of reasons. Some of which are that these "assemble yourself" furniture things have, in the past (NOT Zinus), have been very difficult to assemble. Things like missing parts, missing instructions (!) (you name it). Gave me a definite pause.

Add all of this to the fact that I am female, and (how to put this?) "older", and don't have a lot of experience with assembling things (i.e., mostly poor experiences, as mentioned above) and that a purchase of this bed would make it THE most expensive single item I have ever purchased on Amazon - me, an Amazon customer of 20+ years standing - just about made me decide to give this bed a pass.

Boy, am I glad I read the reviews (more than 20,000 at this writing). Reading the reviews, and looking at the rating, made me decide to give this a chance.

The bed arrived in about three days on my front porch. As expected (I had read that the box weighed about 85 pounds - no exaggeration here!) I could not lift the box to carry it inside (it was just too heavy for me) so I laid it flat on my front porch (it had arrived standing upright) and opened it there.

The contents was EXTREMELY well packaged - it was a smaller box within the large box. The smaller box contained all of the parts - large and small styrofoam blocks everywhere, everything was welll-cushioned, thus un-blemished.

The small parts (fasteners, screws and such) were shrink-wrapped onto sections on a piece of cardboard, with each section labeled with the corresponding part number to the directions - as an added bonus, there was also a section labeled "spare parts", with a few extras of each. I REALLY appreciated this thoughtfulness on the part of Zinus, as this guaranteed that I would have all of the parts required.

The instructions were simple - mostly all graphic images (pictures) of the step-by-step assembly.

The reason that the instructions were so simple is that this bed is incredibly well engineered - the design has really been carefully planned and carefully thought out. Because of this, the parts and assembly pictures exactly matched all of the actual parts.

Not too much guess work here - I had one or two missteps at the beginning, only due to me inexperience in putting together such things. After more thinking, looking at what I had done and comparing it to the instruction, I saw my error, disassembled this first step, and it was smooth sailing from then on.

It took me about an hour and fifteen minutes to put this bed together, only because I had to spend a few minutes at each assembly step staring at the instructions in order to understand if I was doing things correctly. Aside from the first step, I was.

If I had this to do over again (or if I had been a person with experience in such things) I'm guessing that I could have put this bed together in a half hour, tops.

And I LOVE LOVE LOVE this bed! It is beautiful, exactly what I was hoping for (I purchased the one with the headboard), although expensive (for me) it is a quality item and totally worth the price. I know I will enjoy this bed for many, many years to come.

So, if you are contemplating getting this bed, even if you are "older" and even if you have no experience in do-it-yourself furniture assembly, I would say GO FOR IT! When it comes, don't be in a rush, study the instructions, only open the shrink wrapped parts sections as you need them (and be sure to put the parts in a dish or a pan or something so that they don't roll under your chest of drawers and disappear!), take your time - and soon you will have a beautiful new bed.

The only thing I would say to Zinus is that the photos on the page for the bed were poor quality (the photos, NOT the bed), blurry and out-of-focus. This almost stopped me from buying the bed right there and then - so, Zinus: better photos, more bed sales!

Thanks for reading, everyone!! :-)

Wow, this bed frame is amazing...

I did a lot of research behind bedframes for my newly purchases purple mattress and considering the mattress was quite expensive, I wanted a bedframe that would be adequate for it, but not break the bank. After researching I found Zinus was a popular brand, but after reading comments on a ton of their products(literally read comments/researched products for hours), I found contradictory reviews. Either it was the most amazing, or the worst product ever. My take on this bedframe is it is an amazing bedframe!

Pros:
Affordable(I got it for around $200)
Very Sturdy(I am 245 lbs)
Really easy to assemble(took me and 1 other about 30 minutes.)
No squeaking/sliding
WOOD!

Cons:
The only cons I could even think of was:
Very low to the ground(this could be a con for you)
Not extravagant looking, but look simple and clean.

I will update this review if any issues arise, but this is a great bed frame for the price!!! Go with this one if you're getting a Zinus frame. (Zinus Marissa 12 Inch Deluxe Wood Platform Bed Queen)
I've ordered Zinus furniture in the past and always been impressed. This bed is sturdy and quiet, looks good. It is manufactured wood which you can tell by feel but looks like real wood. Easy assembly, took my husband maybe 30-45 minutes. We bought this as an alternative to a $2000 fancy brand bed and I'm very happy with the result. Thank you, Zinus!
I researched the heck out of budget priced platform beds. None of them seemed to have all the features I wanted, which was to be expected I suppose, as the price point I was looking at was quite low. I settled on this Zinus Leah bed and took a chance.

The box was heavy and the contents were packaged well. The finish on the wood is consistent with the photos online and is a honey oak color. I was a bit skeptical of the two long side rails because their depth is only about four inches. It turns out each side rail is made of two sections that meet in the middle at the point where the side rail leg attaches. The screw and bolts used seem quite strong and once the side rail was put together it feels quite strong.

The directions were quite easy to follow and things went together in about 45 minutes. The bed actually seems quite strong. It's light and easy to move around without a mattress, but it feels solid. The slats attach with Velcro and will hold in place well as a result. I do wish there were at least two more slats as the spacing between them might be a bit wide for my hybrid mattress, but time will tell. I do intend to drill and screw each slat into it's supporting side rail but that's a project for another day and until that day arrives the Velcro will have to do.

The center support rail that supports the slats mid-span is made of metal (aluminum?) and painted black. It seems to secure nicely at each end of the bed and at the side rails with solid screw locking into embedded nuts in the wood. Others have reported that this center rail has moved and otherwise fallen out of position, resulting in unsupported and broken slats, but based upon how our went together I do not see how this can possibly happen. Time will be the judge of this, too, but on installation all looks solid to me. It *may* be of value to counter sink a few screw (self tapping for the metal rail) through a few slats and into the metal rail to further support the rail and keep it from shifting. Perhaps I will consider this whenever I take the mattress of to screw the slats into the side rail. Other reviewers have commented that the center support rail legs are too short to reach the floor, but in our case they are the proper length.

I do wish the headboard was about 6 inches taller because with a 12" mattress the headboard looks a bit skimpy, but that's an aesthetic thing I suppose and I am not going to lay awake at night worrying about it. The only other thing I will say about the headboard is that the three horizontal rails that run from side to side are a bit "skimpy". I won't be grabbing the headboard to help shift in bed or to get in our out of bed because I don't think it's that strong. In fact, if it were six inches taller (like I wished it was) it would even be a bit more "skimpy".

I was very skeptical of this bed when I ordered it as the $139.00 price point seems to cry out for a poor product, but honestly the bed seems solid.

All in all - at the 24 hour mark - I am happy with the bed.
So easy to assemble with step-by-step instructions and good quality for the price.
Bought this for my 3 year old because we needed a head board that was on the lower side because his bed sits directly underneath his window. This bed frame is perfect. It was easy to build (disclaimer: I didn’t build it. My husband and my 3 year old did but it looked like it was easy. They had it done in less than an hour and my husband didn’t sweat once, so that’s a good sign!) it’s sturdy and my son loves his big boy bed. Truly Lovely frame. The colour is a little darker than pictured but it really doesn’t bother me. It’s truer in colour to the picture I added if anyone needs a reference.
I purchased this bed in a double for my son and we loved it so much that when I upgraded him to a queen 4 years later, I bought the same one. It has held up great and still looks brand new. It shipped quickly and even though the box was torn up, the frame was so well packaged there were no scratches or dents. It went together easily (1 hour by myself) and is nice and sturdy. 10/10 purchase.
We purchased this bed for the spare bedroom of our cottage. The quality is excellent. The design and assembly method is done very well. It took me less then half an hour to assemble the entire bed. Instructions are detailed with pictures and the individual pieces are numbered making assembly a breeze. Makes for a sturdy bed frame. Very happy with our purchase. Delivery was super fast it arrived in two days from placing the order.
Extremely well packaged to protect against damage while in transit. The instructions were clear and well presented. Bed is sturdy and doesn't "wobble" at all. It supports my memory foam mattress quite well.
Very satisfied with my purchase.
